All 5 members of KID COURAGEOUS grew up together in the Sutherland shire of NSW.
Fronted by the enigmatic lead singer and pianist Mick Anderson with Huw Griffiths on guitar & vocals, Patrick Ricapito on lead guitar, Laurent Saligne on drums & Dave Simon on bass.
In late December 2004 KID COURAGEOUS signed to the Australian independent label RockSugar Music. In January 2005 the boys recorded 3 singles with American producer Rick Will (Incubus, No Doubt & Ben Harper) at Studio 301 in Sydney.
Their debut single, a cover of the Joe Jackson hit ‘Is She Really Going Out With Him’ was serviced to media in March 2005 to an overwhelming response. In it’s first week it achieved the #1 position at nights and was the #4 most added track to radio in Australia holding the #1 night position for 11 weeks! The video was instantly added to MTV, Channel V, Video Hits & Rage. ‘Is She Really Going Out With Him’ peaked at #25 in the ARIA singles chart and #2 Independent!
Their second single, ‘Life's a Movie’ debuted at #39 in the Aria singles chart also achieving the #1 night position at radio for 10 weeks. Movie’s was also voted RECORD OF THE DAY in the UK.
Their 3rd single USE ME, lifted from their 6 track EP, debuted at #24 in the Aria singles chart storming in at #1 Independent. Radio promotions on the East Coast late last year attracted in excess of 55,000 votes on line with a major competition via Coke Live 05 exceeding 165,000 votes. More recently, Mick Anderson (lead singer) was voted Australian spunk of the year in Dolly Magazine!
Now with their debut album DEAR DIARY almost complete – KID COURAGEOUS are gearing up to release their 4th single – I WANT YOU.
I WANT YOU is an anthemic love song which highlights the bands musical and songwriting talent like you’ve never heard before. The song explores a musically mature side to the band which features an exceptional vocal performance from Mick Anderson with strings by violinist William Charles Montgomery and additional vocals from Josh Stuart (Behind Crimson Eyes).
Accompanied by a high energy video shot in Trackdown studios in Sydney, ‘LOWIE’ of Lowie’s Hot 30 Countdown ‘fame’ makes his cameo performance on violin with students from the Australian Institute of Music.
I WANT YOU was also produced by Rick Will and engineered and mixed by Sydney producer Greg Stace.
