A true child of Texas, Kendall Beard – one of season eight’s Top 36 semifinalists of “American Idol” (Fox, 2002- ) – grew up in Lufkin and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2007, where she still resides. In addition to singing, she has been studying dance for 12 years.
