Bieber, Jepsen, Perry and LMFAO among winners at 2012 MuchMusic Video Awards
The 2012 MuchMusic Video Awards honored Carly Rae Jepsen the big winner of the night with three kudos, while Justin Bieber and Katy Perry grabbed two prizes each. The newbie Carly Rae bagged Most Streamed Video of the Year, Video of the Year and also UR Fave Video.
After being presented with her first award, she launched a series of thank yous that included Bieber. "Thank you so, so, so much," she concluded. When raising her trophy, she exclaimed, "Oh, it's very heavy!"
Canadian pospstar, Bieber won International Video of the Year by a Canadian and UR Fave Artist or Group beating out the likes of Avril Lavigne, Nickelback, Simple Plan and Drake in the former category, and won the latter over Drizzy, Jepsen, Marianas Trench and Hedley. In his speech when collecting UR Fave Artist trophy, he thanked his devotees for inspiring him in his new album. "They helped me get through a lot," he gushed. "I wrote a song about them and it's called 'Believe'. I can't wait for them to hear it."
To his home country, 18-year-old Bieber proudly shouted out, "Canada, I will always support you and always love you. It's always great to pull one of these bad boys home."
Perry got International Video of the Year - Artist and UR Fave International Artist or Group. When accepting the latter gong, the West Coast singer said, "Truthfully I had no idea I was going to win or I would have put on more clothes." She also took the stage at the MMVAs and peformed her latest single "Wide Awake". While she stood still on the center stage, two couples dressing in flesh-colored suit climbed fake trees on her right and left side. Later, she ditched her purple robe to reveal a nude body suit underneath, before a pair of gigantic butterfly wings spread from behind her back. Bieber, Jepsen, Flo Rida and Nelly Furtado were among other musical performers at the Sunday, June 17 event, which was hosted by LMFAO. Selena Gomez, Lucy Hale, Cody Simpson, Chord Overstreet and Darren Criss supported the ceremony as presenters.
