Kastigo

Kastigo is a rock band based in Manila and is composed of Carlo Ordonez (vocals), Josh Montecillo (guitars), Sans Fojas (bass) and Mark Santiago (drums).

It all started during their high school days in Colegio San Agustin Makati. Carlo, Montecillo, and Santiago were already friends as well as bandmates. It was only in 3rd year high school when they met Sans. They were once a contemporary Christian band.

The name “Kastigo” came from their experience in a restaurant. Ordonez, Montecillo, and Santiago were thinking of a band name. While they were in the restaurant, they spotted on a teenage girl. Unlucky for them, the girl’s parents saw them eyeing on their daughter. So Carlo thought of the name “Kastigo”, thinking of what they might get because of eyeing on the girl. (NU107: In The Raw)

They are strongly influenced by the Filipino rock band, Wolfgang. Wolf Gemora, Wolfgang’s drummer, discovered Kastigo in one of the band’s gigs. It seems that Wolf saw something in them. Wolf Gemora at times played with Kastigo covering the song Tulisan by Wolfgang.

They released their debut album, “Our Daily Riot” last August 2, 2007. Their current single, “KKK Kapag Kapiling Ka” is being played in Filipino rock-based radio station NU 107.5.

Last February 2, 2008, Kastigo played Wolfgang covers along with Wolf Gemora at Cafe Saguijo.
