Jude Cole is a singer-songwriter, musician, record producer, manager, film composer and actor. Cole recorded the Billboard Top 40 songs "Baby, It's Tonight" and "Time for Letting Go Cole joined the British band The Records in 1980 and recorded one album with them.[1]
In the 1980s Cole met Camelia Kath, wife of late Chicago guitarist Terry Kath. Camelia took Jude's tape to Chicago's lead singer Peter Cetera, who passed it on to a WB Records A&R person, Michael Ostin, and Cole was signed to Warner Bros. in 1985.[2]
The following year, Cole performed the title track to the hit movie, Back to School.
In 1987, Cole recorded a solo record titled, Jude Cole.[1]
In 1990, Cole released the album A View From 3rd Street, which yielded the top 20 single "Baby, It's Tonight." Another single from the album, "Time for Letting Go," made the Billboard top 40. Two years later, Cole released the album Start The Car.[1]
In 1995, Cole released the album I Don't Know Why I Act This Way, with Pat Mastelotto (ex-Mr. Mister) on the drums and Steve Porcaro (ex-Toto) on keyboards and other musicians.[1]
In 2000, Cole released the album "Falling Home" on CDX Records.[1]
In 2005 Cole contributed segments to the entertainment television program Extra [3]
Cole has also performed studio work in Los Angeles, as a singer and as a musician playing guitar and bass. He sang background vocals on the Del Shannon album produced by Tom Petty. Cole was offered an audition as the bass player for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, which he declined.[citation needed]
Cole has recorded with artists like Moon Martin & The Ravens on Capitol Records, Australian rocker Billy Thorpe, Dwight Twilley, Doobie Brothers guitarist Pat Simmons.[citation needed]
Cole has also written the musical score for three films with his record company partner, actor/director Kiefer Sutherland.[citation needed]
Cole is currently involved with Ironworks Music and produces and manages a number of artists such as Lifehouse, Rocco DeLuca, Beth Orton, honeyhoney, MoZella, Jim Stapley and others.[4] He is the producer and co-writer of the songs, You & Me, First Time, Colorful and Whatever It Takes.[3]
Cole is manager for the American rock band Lifehouse and has co-written songs with Jason Wade.
