Maria Jolina Perez Magdanga was born on November 6, 1978 at St. Lukes Medical Center.

Jolina's parents are Mr. Jun Magdangal and Mrs. Paulita Magdangal. She is the middle child of the three siblings. They have residences in Commonwealth, Quezon City and Tagaytay City in Cavite.

Jolina Magdangal studied at Colegio de San Lorenzo and finished her secondary education at Sienna College in Quezon City. She was a consistent achiever and multi-awarded student in her basic education years, as she both excelled in academics and extra-curricular activities. She has finished Computer Studies at AMA Computer University and took up Theatre Studies at the University of the Philippines-Diliman. [edit] Claim to fame

Magdangal's career jumped start when she was cast as one of the members of ABS-CBN's ANG TV- a teen and kiddie talent show aired during weekday afternnons in channel 2. Her mentor then was Mr. Johnny Manahan. From the said show, Jolina showcased her singing prowess, acting skills and hosting talents. Her co-stars were Claudine Barreto, Angelu de Leon, Rica Peralejo, Roselle Nava and a lot more.

From ANG TV, Jolina was cast on Abangan ang Susunod na Kabanata where she unleashed her comic sides. Then TV guestings and movie offers came along her way. [edit] Career breakthrough and transformation

To date, Jolina has starred in three youth-oriented shows (GIMIK, Kahit Kailan and Love to Love); two anthologies (Star Drama Theater Presents and Dear Friend); one TV special ( A Jolly Christmas); one miniseries (Hoo Uuu?!); six drama series (Esperanza, Labs ko si Babes, Narito ang Puso Ko, I Luv New York, Adik Sa'Yo and Panday Kids); four sitcoms (from Abangan ang Susunod na Kabanata to Arriba! Jolina has appeared to almost twenty movies in her twenty years in showbiz. She has portrayed in all genres: drama, comedy, romance, action, fantasy and horror. All of her movies were box-office hits.[citation needed] She has worked with some of the industry's most respected and famous stars- Dolphy, Maricel Soriano, Nida Blanca, Aga Mulach, Robin Padilla and a lot more.

She has numerous blockbuster hits with her screen partner Marvin Agustin. Their loveteam was considered as the "Most Popular" and Undefeated Team-up of the 90's.[citation needed] She had made several movies with Star Cinema, Viva Films and GMA Films. In 2008, she received a star in the Paradise of Stars in Bulacan and last November 2009, she was recognized and honored in the Walk of Fame Philippines for her contributions in the movie industry.[citation needed]

On the other hand, Magdangal's fashion sense has been a massive hit among the youth of her generation. She set the standard of how the youth dressed and the way they act. Aside from television and film, Jolina also conquered the recording and concerts industry with her charms and mass appeal. She was heralded as the OPM's biggest seller of 1999, the artist who sold more albums than Kuh, Regine, Martin, Gary, Pops, Jaya and Sharon. Her self-title debut album "JOLINA" sold more than 200000 units, earning for her a quintuple platinum award. That distinction put her right behind Diamond Record Awardee Jose Mari Chan.

Her follow-up album was even a bigger success, entitle "ON MEMORY LANE" has received 6x platinum award. Most of the songs on the album were revivals of the hit songs from the 50's and 60's.

Other albums and OSTs she had were: Hey Babe-Gold record Award, Gimik the Reunion- Gold Record Award, Labs Kita, Okey ka Lang- Double Platinum Award and Flames- Triple Platinum. With these achievements, she was dubbed as Philippine's "Soundtrack Queen" and the "Revival Queen".

She had also compilations and dance albums under her belt. Among her notable hit singles were: Oh Babe, Chuva Choo Choo, Mahal Mo Ba Ako, Laging Tapat, Nanghihinayang, Kapag ako ay Nahmahal, Flames, Tameme, Sana'y Kapiling Ka, Sa Araw ng Pasko, Paper Roses, Crying Time, TL Ako Sa 'Yo, Kung Ikaw ay Isang Panaginip and a lot more.

In the concerts arena, Jolina had numerous sol-out concerts that were produced locally and abroad. She held concerts in the US, Hawaii, Guam, Middle East, Canada, Europe and Asian cities. Her major and birthday concert entitled "Jolina Mania" held at the Araneta Colloseum and Cuneta Astrodome proved to be a great success. These had proved her status as the country's Concert Princess. Critics say that she is one of the few most likeable, wholesome and multi-talented star today. She is an established tri-media commercial model.
