Jackson Rohm

With his sixth full length release in under a decade, Jackson Rohm’s “Acoustic Sessions” intimately resembles what many fans have been longing for: a representation of a live show that has been refined over time. “My first five records all featured electric guitars, keyboards and big drums.” Rohm adds, “I perform the majority of my shows as a solo acoustic act, so this was my chance to put something out that is more representative of what so many of my fans know.”

Recorded in Nashville and Atlanta with long time friend and producer, Aaron Thompson, “Acoustic Sessions” is a diverse collection of acoustic-based tracks, covering the pop, rock, country and folk varieties. All songs were written solely by Rohm. The supporting instruments include acoustic guitars, upright bass, percussion, piano, mandolin, fiddle and dobro. Nine of 14 songs are fan favorites and 5 tracks were selected from a large group of newly penned songs. “Recording live with some of the best players in Nashville paid big dividends. While the performances were outstanding, it's the tasteful parts that the musicians came up with to compliment one another that made each song come together so well,” asserts Rohm. “I’m really proud of this record.”

As you examine Jackson’s body of work, his evolution from novice bar crooner to a professional recording artist and entertainer is clearly apparent. What was originally thought of as a hobby, Jackson has turned into quite an impressive career, using his personality, life experiences and commanding stage presence. “Reflecting back on where I was 20 years ago, it’s hard to believe that I’ve made 6 albums and played over 2000 shows.” Jackson quips, “In high school, my life was all about running Track and getting a scholarship to compete in college. And in college, I was focused on obtaining my Finance degree so that I could then move on to law school. When I discovered that playing music was what I was passionate about, I decided to make it my life’s work. Things have fallen into place and I can’t imagine being happier.”

In a time when most musicians struggle to make a living without the aid of a big advance from a record label and a team of agents, promoters and publicists, Jackson has found his niche and thrives in this tough environment. “Being an independent artist is great because I’m free to record any genre of music that I choose,” adds Rohm. “I don’t have record execs breathing down my neck about putting out music that they deem to be marketable.” This independence has also given Jackson the opportunity to wear a variety of music business hats. “I handle all aspects of my career, personally financing the records and booking/promoting 150-200 shows each year,” says Rohm. “I’ve worked hard to build a good rapport with owners/managers of many venues across America. I’ve learned that if you want to be a successful musician, there’s a lot more to it than writing, recording and performing great music. Being a great businessman is every bit as important in this day and age.”

While being a savvy, self-managed artist has been key to his success, Rohm also acknowledges the rolehis fans have played. “It was very difficult to get started in the beginning, but over time I’ve developed a loyal following. The connection that I have with my fans, many of which have become personal friends, has been instrumental in my success. I’m very grateful for the support I’ve been given. I look forward to continuing to grow as a musician and to hopefully continuing to grow my fan base as well!"
