The year is 1994. Welcome to Jacksonville, FL. Dan McLintock, 14, and Scott Shad, 12, meet, jam, and form The Abominable Snowmen of the Himalayas. After six months of complaints about the long-winded title the kids re-dub the band Inspection 12. Anyhow, over the next six years the boys recruited high school cohort Pete Mosely and Scott's cousin James Trimble to play guitars. They played a couple of shows opening for smaller bands like No Use For a Name, Limp, Snuff and Millencolin before moving on to play with such renowned acts as Manface, Bohr-Bor, and the ever popular Throbbing Gristle. From 1995 to 2000 Inspection 12 also released four full-lengths and two EP's on their own. This material, all DIY, was released only in North Florida yet garnered critical acclaim worldwide and won several Grammy's. Honest Don's got wind of these achievements and pleaded with I12 to sign in 1999. The slackers waited a year to sign and then took seven months to produce the new full length, "In Recovery." It was released on Honest Don's Barely Legal Recordings on May 29th, 2001.
The record is a 12 song pop-punk jewel filled to the rim with melodies. All the members of Inspection 12 sing on In Recovery, and boy can they sing! Their four-layered melodies come through strongest, on this, their first official full length. Inspection 12 stand out as the cutest young punk band with the sweetest harmonies! Even Joey Cape from Lagwagon joined them in the studio to add his voice to the mix. Don't overlook these upstarts 'cuz they're young, I12 is certain to be a hit!
In January of 2002 Inspection 12 embarked on their first ever universe tour, exploring many parts of the world that had yet been explored. This tour took them to places such as the Great Wall of China, the Sun, and North Carolina. This was quickly followed up with a tour of the West Coast with fellow southerners Whippersnapper. Now home, plans are underway to record a new album this summer, with the three-piece version of Inspection 12. Stay tuned.
