Inga & Anush

Inga and Anush Arshakyans - the duet that is well proven in recent years, both at home and foreign stage. Repertoire, vocal abilities, technique of performance, charm and elegance - all this duet has almost at the top mark of the scale. The basic repertoire of sisters are careful and at the same time very original arrangements of folk songs.

Anush Arshakyan was born on December 24, 1980 in Yerevan. She studied and graduated from music school named after S.Aslamazyan, class of piano.

In 1994 she gained the first place and was awarded audience prize in “Sonorous voices” competition that took place in Omsk city. In this period she started promoting her activity as composer/author. Later on her creations had great success. As soon as she graduated from the music school in 1997-2001 she entered and graduated music collage named ager A.Babajanyan, class of piano. In 1999, she made her debut as a soloist together with state philarmonic orchestra and chorus of the Republic of Armenia. Since 2001 to 2005 she has studied and graduated from state conservatory of Yerevan, jazz-vocal class.

Inga Arshakyan was born on March 18th, 1982, in Yerevan. She also graduated from music school named after S.Aslamazyan and music college named after A.Babajanyan, class of violin in 1997. Parallel with her studies she was working in the ensemble of violinists after G.Achemyan. She went on tours with the ensemble to the marzes of RA.

In 1998 Inga joined her sister and together they promoted their activities. Not only duets, but also arias, where the violin plays a great role, are present in the repertoire. In 2002 graduating the class of the strings of music college following her sister she entered state conservatory of Yerevan, jazz vocal class. In 2005 she has graduated.

In 2000 Inga and Anush entered State Song Theater of Armenia. Both of them performed national, ethnic songs and songs written by A.Grigoryan and Anush. They sang in many cities of Armenia as soloists of song theatre.

In September 2002 they left for US for the concert tour with soloists of song theatre. After the concerts at “Alex” theatre in Los Angeles, sisters immediately got an offer to appear on the same stage with solo concerts. The song theater left for Tehran with same program.

In 2002 Armenian variety song festival “Golden Lyre 2002” congratulated Anush and Inga in “Sympathy of audience” nomination. In Ferbuary 2003 sols concert program “Seasons of life” was prepared, the producer was A.Grigoryan. Ethnic, national as well as modern songs were included in the musical performance, as well as songs to the accompaniment of violin, guitar and piano.

In March solo concerts of Inga and Anush took place in “Alex” theater. At the same time their first CD “We and our mountains” has been released. This was followed by invitations to appear on the stage with the same program in New York, Toronto, Argentina and Paris.

In May 2003 sisters were invited to great celebration organized on the occasion of 79th anniversary of Charlez Aznavour, later on the sisters were honoured to be present on each Aznavour’s visit to his homeland.

After giving another series of concerts with theater in US sisters leave it and start own career.

In 2003 their song “I don’t find my way” was announced as the best song of the year during festival “Golden Lyre 2003”. Same fate followed song “Tamzara” in 2004 for which first music video of the sisters was released. In 2004 album of the sisters is awarded “Best women pop retro album of they year” during “Armenian music awards” that took place in Hollywood. Tamzara album followed in 2006.

For around a year now Inga and Anush had been working with productional agency Sharm, who organize their concerts, prepares to release new CD and deals with other issues of their careers. The new album will include 11 entries. Singer themselves call this album experimental, as folk songs will be presented there in the new arrangements and accompanied with other genres.

“Our song for Eurovision is written in the genre of folk, with elements of contemporary music trends” - said Anush Arshakyan at the press conference. Song music is composed by Mane Akopyan, and lyrics by Avet Barseghyan (Armenian part) and Vardan Zadoyan (English part), arrangement has been prepared by Ara (Murzik) Torosyan. In her words their goal is to represent Armenian folk music in a new way. “Small countries like Armenia should always take part in contests such as Eurovision, to present their culture to the world”, - said the singer.

“Contest success depends not only on the artists, but from our side we will try to do everything to achive victory in Moscow”, said Anush Arshakyan, adding that they will start preparations immediately.

According to the producer Artur Asatryan, national final success was achieved thanks to the excellent and synchronized work of the whole team, including “Sharm” holding, which has signed sisters for three years contract. Asatryan also added that for Moscow a totally different presentation will be prepared, not similar to the one seen at the preselection.
