Willow Smith (born October 31st, 2000)

Willow Smith (often just referred to as Willow) is an American child actress. Her parents are Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. She first acted in the film I Am Legend. Willow has also launched a music career, starting with the release of 'Whip My Hair', released on Jay-Z's Roc Nation label.

Willow Smith: Family Life

As well as being the daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, her brothers Trey Smith and Jaden Smith are also child actors. Along with Trey and Jaden, Willow is an ambassador for Project Zambia, which aims to help children that have been orphaned by AIDS in Africa.

Willow Smith: Acting Career

Willow Smith's acting debut came with her appearance in I Am Legend, released in 2007. The film was a science fiction movie (an adaptation of the novel by Richard Matheson) directed by Francis Lawrence and starring her father, Will Smith. The film was a global success and grossed over $585 million across the globe. I Am Legend also featured Emma Thompson and Alice Braga.

The next film that Willow Smith appeared in was Kit Kittredge: An American Girl, which also starred Julia Ormond, Chris O'Donnell and Abigail Breslin. Julia Roberts was one of the executive producers of the movie. The same year (2008), Willow Smith also voiced the character of Baby Gloria in Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. Then, in 2009's Merry Madagascar, she voiced the character of Abby.

Willow Smith also guest-starred in True Jackson, VP, playing the role of Young True, alongside Keke Palmer and Ashley Argota.

Willow Smith: Music Career

In 2010, Willow Smith's debut single, 'Whip My Hair', was released on Jay Z's Roc Nation label, which is also home to Jay Electronica, Alexis Jordan, Rihanna and The Ting Tings. The track received a great deal of airplay on mainstream radio, both in the UK and the US. Jimmy Fallon performed a cover of the song on his show in the US, whilst pretending to be Neil Young and joined by Bruce Springsteen onstage. The video of the performance became a viral hit on the internet.
