Rebelde Way (Rebel's Way) is a Martín Fierro Award—nominated Argentine soap opera created and produced by Cris Morena. It originally aired from 26 May 2002 to 18 December 2003. The series was transmitted in many countries worldwide, including Peru, Germany, Israel, Spain and Uruguay, achieving an international success. In addition, numerous remakes of Rebelde Way have been made, most notably Rebelde by Mexican Televisa. In 2009, it was confirmed that the American version of the series would be made, produced by Jennifer Lopez.
Rebelde Way is set in the Elite Way School, a prestigious private boarding high school near Buenos Aires. The students of the school are the members of Argentine wealthiest families, as well as gifted students with scholarships. The series follows the lives of Elite Way students, their parents and their professors, and it also features the regular use of English language and phrases by the upper class. Its central characters are Marizza Pía Spirito, Mía Colucci, Pablo Bustamante and Manuel Aguirre, portrayed by, respectively, Camila Bordonaba, Luisana Lopilato, Benjamín Rojas and Felipe Colombo. The four form a band named Erreway, in order to pursue their dreams. The band enjoyed a great success throughout Latin America, Europe and Israel, selling over 5million records[4] and achieving several Platinum records.[5][6] Along with spawning a series of merchandising products, the Cris Morena Group also released a spin–off Erreway: 4 Caminos in 2004. Manuel Aguirre (one of the shows protagonist and antaganist) who comes to Argentina from Mexico to get revenge on the man who drove his father to kill himself and lose his money and to get that revenge he wants to take it out on his daughter Mia Colucci who he sees and immediately falls in love before he knows her name and he has to try to decide what he will do, exact revenge or stay with her. He acts like he hates her to make her hate him as much as possible but trouble rises when he cannot hate her more than he loves her.
Mia Colucci (one of the protagonist) is a spoiled girl who get everything from her "daddy" who upon seeing Manuel changes her life forever and falls in love but when she meets him he acts rude and mean so she tries to do the same pretending to hate him as he does. The series' main plot line revolves around a group of students forming a band. The actors who play the members of this band are also a real-life band, called Erreway. Erreway perform most of the music used on the show, and have been extremely successful in their own right, becoming one of the highest-grossing acts in Argentina and touring internationally.
