Northstar was born in the summer of 1997 in the Heart of Dixie from the remnants of several local rock bands. They did the usual local scene stuff, playing shows throughout Alabama, and recorded some demos, most of which just circulated around through their friends and are now long gone. This band has come a long way since their beginning roots and is ready for whatever's ahead of them.
Northstar is four talented, yet four very different musicians trying to make good sounding noise by banging on guitars, a bass, and some drums while trying to sing in key. Northstar is from the dirty nasty south, Hunts Vegas (Huntsville) Alabama to be exact. They would love to come to your hometown and rock it to the ground and sleep on your floor. The band has a full length record coming out on triple crown records in October. They also have recorded a few demos and if you look hard enough you might be lucky enough to find some of it.
Since the beginning, they have had around 5 guitarists and 3 different bassists, have been a 3 piece, 5 piece, and a 4 piece, and have had two different singers. As of now the only original member is Gabe, the drummer. Being from Alabama, where there is not a huge rock scene, They decided to start touring around the country in 2000. They booked their first tour, bought a van, and set out on the road. Since then, they have been on 5 tours, most of which have been up and down the east coast and through the mid-west, and have been out as far west as Idaho.
After two years of polishing their D.I.Y. skills of booking, promoting, and producing everything that is Northstar, the band started getting noticed by many different record labels. They ended up signing a deal in June of 2002 with Triple Crown Records in New York, which will put the first Northstar album out on the shelves in a record store near you. This is what these kids do best, and its what they will be doing for the rest of their young lives.
