This is Nicole's (née Denisse Laval in 1977) third album. When she was something like 12 years old in 1989, she made her début with an album issued only in tape format (as far as I can remember) titled "Tal Vez Me Estoy Enamorando" (Maybe I'm Falling in Love), sort of harmless teenie-pop, which was pretty popular in Chile. Then, years later (1994) she re-emerged as a beautiful young 17 year old woman, with a new look, concept and album: "Esperando Nada" (Waiting for Nothing), which had a collection of excellent pop songs, with very classy arrangements and melodies. That album was a huge commercial success, and had a run of at least three consecutive singles, being the whole bunch of songs very, very good. Then in 1997, she changed her look, her style, etc., and here you have it the mature effort of a lifetime: this great album I'm reviewing, filled with a variety of moods, styles and tempos. It's great music, and you have to listen to its songs many times to discover all of their magic. After that, Nicole will caught you under her spell, 'cos she's not only a pretty woman, but very attractive, smart and interesting as well. Noteworthy singles from this album are, among others: "Despiértame" (Wake me Up) and "Todo Lo que Quiero" (All I Want). Nothing more had been heard from her afterwards for a long time, until these days, when it's being said she's signed a deal with Maverick Records, which will launch her as-major-than-ever-artist in the latin market, issuing a new album in March 2002. A videoclip featuring an upcoming single ("Viaje Infinito"-Infinite Journey) from that album is being shown currently at MTV, and I must say I'm pretty pleased by her new style, reminiscent somewhat of one of my fave groups ever, the wonderful Swing Out Sister. Kudos for Nicole! She deserves them!
