Leo Dan is one of Latin America's pop pioneers. This native Argentinean was one of the first singer-songwriters of his generation. Leo Dan was born on March 22 in Atamisqui, Argentina. At 18, he formed a rock band called Los Demonios Del Ritmo, and at 20, eager to start a music career, he traveled to Buenos Aires to visit Sony where he was immediately signed to a record deal with the company. His first big hit, "Celia ", topped the charts within the first week of its release. He had several hits thereafter, including Fanny, Como Te Extraño mi Amor, "Estelita", "Libre Solterito y sin nadie", "Santiago Querido" and many more. His songs have been covered by numerous artists and translated into various languages.
Leo also spent many years in Mexico where he became an idol and his music reflected a Mexican influence. During the 1980's, he became even more popular with Mariachi hits like, “Con Nadie Me Compares" and Toquen Mariachis Canten . His popularity opened doors in the prestigious Mexican market for many other South American artists such as Palito Ortega, Roberto Carlos and Leonardo Favio.
