West Coast rapper King Tee was born in Los Angeles, but gained early experience in Houston as a mixer at radio stations KTSU and KYOK. He made his performance debut on Capitol in 1989 with Act a Fool. He followed that with At Your Own Risk in 1990. Both blended boasts with comic and novelty material, and weren't hard or gangsta-oriented, which may explain why they barely scraped the lower end of the pop albums chart. Tha Triflin' Album followed in 1993, and two years later he returned with King Tee IV Life. A hits collection, Ruff Rhymes, was released in 1998.
