Kari Rueslatten

Kari Rueslåtten was born October 3rd in 1972.

In the early 90's she sang in a nameless band in Trondheim.

In 1992 Kari and Finn Olav Holthe (guitar) met with Rune Hoemsnes (drums), Geir Nilssen (guitar) and Trond Engum (guitar) from the local death metal band Nightfall.

Together with Jarle Dretvik (bass) they founded The 3rd and the Mortal.

Their first and only demo tape already showed their great skills, combinig the different band members' influences in a unique and fascinating way. Their music is a mixture of death / doom like sounds, with influences from folk and dark / gothic music, creating a dreamlike magical atmosphere of deep melancholy and great beauty

Until 1994 they recorded an EP (SORROW) and an album (TEARS LAID IN EARTH), after Jarle had left the band to go his own way and had been replaced by Bernt Rundberget.

In 1994 Kari left The 3rd and the mortal, but she and the other band members are still good friends.

The 3rd and the Mortal have released 4 more records so far without Kari.

In the same year she met with S. Wongraven (guitar/bass) who had founded the band Storm to honour the Norwegian folklore and traditions. Kari did some of the vocal parts on his album NORDAVIND.

In 1995 she recorded some of her own stuff and released a beautiful solo album (DEMO RECORDINGS)- enchanting music with a touch of folklore and magic.

In 1997 her second solo album (SPINDELSINN) was released. The music on this album ranges from very quiet songs to more playful ones, in the tradition of artists like Kate Bush or Tori Amos
