A female fronted band from Binghamton N.Y. Known for blending, Punk, Metal, Classical and Hardcore styles. The current lineup consists of: Angela Timon (Vocals, Bass), Brianna Salazar (Guitar, Vocals) and Jeff Vazquez (Drums). Angela and Brianna met in 1999 at a local punk show in their hometown of Binghamton, NY. Still in High School, Angela was playing with her first band “The Surgeon Generals” and Brianna, who had just started college, was playing in “Plotting Revenge”. Intrigued by the one handed guitarist, Brianna decided to overcome her fear of strangers and strike up a conversation. The two hit it off quickly, bonding over music and being among the chosen few female musicians to break into a male dominated scene. The two were later reunited through the Broome Community College music program and decided to start working together in If Man Is Five, with Brianna on guitar and Angela on Bass and Lead vocals. As a result of both being classically trained musicians, the two eventually fused these backgrounds with the edgier and heavier style of music they both enjoyed into their own distinctive genre, opera-core. Seamlessly transitioning between beauty and brutality, the band quickly gained recognition and praise in their hometown and began branching out as far north as Canada, as far South as Maryland and as far West as Michigan. The two persisted through many trials and tribulations, persisting despite line up changes and a deteriorating music scene. Jeff Vasquez, a childhood friend of Brianna’s, filled the void of drummer. Jeff had played in Tribe of None, a group that helped If Man Is Five while still in their infancy. His skilled performances and versatility in various musical styles helped further solidify the diverse and unique musical direction of the group. Having had the opportunity to play such renowned festivals as North by Northeast, Girls Rock & Girls Rule and Lady Fest, as well as, open for a number of national acts, including, Overkill, Burnt By the Sun, Suicide City and If Hope Dies, If Man Is Five continues to impress audiences word wide with their high energy performances and intense, dramatic musical endeavors. If Man Is Five has never allowed themselves to be held back, be it by anxiety, or even missing a hand. After overcoming these personal obstacles together as a band over the last several years, the sky is the limit of the heights to which If Man Is Five can soar
