Ibens

Ibens is primary classified as indie, but parts of electronica and pop punk also take place in their music. Ibens was formed in 1993, and in the summer of 1996 Ibens released an EP, which leaded to an contract in the fall. Ibens hit threw in 1997 with their first album Ibens and played on several concerts such as “Roskilde Festival”. Ibens got internal problems and in the end of 1997 they split.

In 1998 the band was born again - now with the loss of one member, but the birth of two - after this the record Maskulin came out, but i didn’t become a great success. This leaded into a long break, where the lead singer Carsten Lykke got to establish music on his own, and published the solo album Selvoptaget, with the hit “Hvis Frederik Var Til Fyre”.

After four years of silence between the two original members (Carsten Lykke and Henrik Marstal) they met at a concert in 2002, and were once again united. “Ufornuft” (came out February 2005) was the third album, and was jammed in Carsten’s apartment. Previous songs of Ibens was often fun, fire-on, tempo and extrovert, but now there was an agreement, that they needed to show the other side of Ibens - the serious side. One of the songs deals with dying ex.

  • “Ufornuft” should be a record, that you want to give to your new girl-/boyfriend’s friends. A record, that is not distinctive in bitterness. Some of the things we tried to transfer into the ablum is when reality becomes poetic. - (tells Carten Lykke in an interview to a danish musicinformation-site “Gaffa”.)

In 2008 they published a album called “17 hits” which includes the greatest hits by Ibens and Carsten Lykke. . However Ibens is currently working on the writing and recording of a new album.
