This Toronto-based trip hop duo, is comprised of two expatriate Americans. Esthero (whom the act is named after) moved to Toronto at the age of 17; Doc came way of St. Paul, Minnesota around the same time -- 1996.
Esthero has a powerful voice but knew immediately she needed a collaborator on her original material and when she heard some interesting songs while visiting EMI Publishing, it was Doc she knew she needed to meet.
While recording the album in Doc's home studio, their management and publishing team began shopping the demos to Canadian and U.S. labels. During the final stages of completion of the album, Esthero signed with LA-based The Work Group (distributed through Sony in Canada).
1998's resulting album, 'Breath From Another' is essentially the original demo tapes remixed.
