Blodsrit

The first ideas of creating a band like Blodsrit was formed in the mid 90´s due to the fact that I felt all the bands I was involved in at that point of time was too musically advanced and/or too technical in my taste. I have always felt drawn to the more raw, simple and harsch style that amongst others Darkthrone, Marduk and Carpathian Forest delivers, so the birth of Blodsrit was in fact just waiting to happen.

So, in 1998 I found myself almost totally isolated from the rest of the world in a strange way due to several reasons and that was the perfect moment that gave birth to the band that sooner would evolve into Blodsrit. I met Kettil, a person that had the same ideas and ideals for a black metal band that I had felt my creation would have so we started creating some tracks under the name Skuggrike. These songs were later recorded and compiled to a demo entitled "The Arrival of Kaos". Due to several reasons this demo was never released though and we decided to go separate ways with our musical paths. He went on a started up the thrash/heavy metal band Paganizer (that today have changed into Death Metal), and I continued by myself with the only exception that I changed tha bandname into Blodsrit. A bandname that is taken from an old heathen ritual performed by sacrificing blood in order to gain better crops, lovelife etc etc. The name was chosen due to its grim touch and feeling that perfectly fits my ideas of Blodsrit.

In early 1999 a new demo was recorded and released under the name "Dödens Sändebud" (translated as "messenger of death"), and this was only printed in 25 rare copies. One of the copies of the demo found its way to the obscure and rather unknown label Psychic Scream Entertainment that is located in Malaysia, and a contract for one split-Cd was signed. An extremely short deadline forced the recordings to take place during shitty circomstances, and the result did not in any way please me but was anyhow well recieved and gave Blodsrit a name within the underground. The album was to be called "Storm of Immolation" and featured besides Blodsrit the Indonesian black metal act Ritual Orchestra.

In 2000 a contract between Blodsrit and the french label Chanteloup Creations was signed, and in December 2000 - January 2001 the fullenght album "Supreme Misanthropy" was recorded. Unfortunately Chanteloup Creations was laid to eternal rest before the release of the album and the contract was instead signed over to Oakenshield records which is a sublabel of the more known Adipocere Records. Whilst Oakenshield prepared for the release of the album I started the search for a drummer and found Fiebig (also to be found in Portal and Carve) which probably was the best that ever could have happened in the band. To try out this new recruit a new studiosession was booked and in September 2001 we entered Impa Music and recorded a 4-track promo entitled "Secrets Unveiled", which by far is the best ever to come from Blodsrit. At the same time the Supreme Misanthropy album was unleashed and so far it has recieved great responses worldwide.

The future is yet to come upon us but beware, Blodsrit has never been stronger than now! The time to come is most definatley ours!
