ANIKA PARIS

March 17th, 2002

Anika Paris singer/songwriter is currently in the studio working on her second record to be released this Summer 2002. She is proud to announce one of her new songs Chocolate and Wine is already getting notoriety. It will be featured in Wise Girls, the new film starring Mira Sorvina and Mariah Carey, which received critical acclaim and a standing ovation at its Sundance Film Festival premiere.

Who is Anika you ask? Anika is a classically trained pianist and an ASCAP Award Winning singer/songwriter who箂 songs have also been featured in Miramax箂 movie "Bounce" starring Gwenyth Paltrow and Ben Affleck, as well as on the Gold Selling Arista Soundtrack with Sarah Mclachlan, Dido, Sophie B. Hawkins, on MTV Road Rules Meets the Real World, on Sci-fi thriller "The Calling" and on the Gracie Allen Award Winning Documentary, "Anita Dancing through Life." Anika who is half puerto-rican was a featured guest on national televisions; "Latin Explosion", with Christina Aguilera and Ricky Martin; and performed her single I筸 No Ordinary Girl on "Late Late with Craig Kilborn." She released her debut album last year, "On Gardner Street," and toured with her band through-out the U.S.

The daughter of a classical conductor, Anika Paris spent her childhood traveling to whatever city dad's baton waved. Along the way, she got a great deal of stage experience performing in musicals and opera's through-out Europe and the United States while her dad conducted. Starting piano lessons at age seven, Paris was a quick self-starter. Though her musical career was born as a personal therapy during adolescence. "I was rather shy, and spent a lot of time in the piano room playing and writing songs for hours." By college Paris was playing in bands and performing in theater. Moving to New York after college, she played in the band Double Exposure with her brother, producer and drummer Paul Peress.

The band featured players such as: Zev Katz (Jewel), Clark Gaton (Sting), James Genus (Vanessa Williams), Jeff Pevar (David Crosby), Drew Zing (Carly Simon), John Harrington (Steely Dan) to name a few. They packed cabs and small clubs. Coast-hopping to L.A., she met Dean Landon, the man who would eventually produce and co-write songs with her on her debut album. The album was crafted in a home studio appropriately called ON GARDNER STREET, an album named for the place of its birth. Despite occasional power failures and neighborhood noise, the literally "home-made" album was strong enough to garner a buzz in the industry and Anika landed a record deal!

矷f this album doesn't literally rocket to the top of the charts and quickly become embraced by the entire country, something's seriously wrong. Anika has it all. She's got depth and real meaning to her words (she knows what you're thinking and she speaks openly and honestly) Get ready to see her interviewed on every television program even remotely connected with music. Get ready for the videos, t-shirts, posters, and stadium tours because this is one artist whose destiny is already set. Highly recommended. SONGWRITERS MONTHLY

Radio release "It箂 About" showcases all the elements: adept songwriting conscientious production, and a sing able chorus. Now based in Los Angeles, Paris got her start via an ASCAP song writing scholarship, which led to her singing background vocals for Canadian superstar Roch Voisine, through whom she met current producer and co-writer Dean Landon. The new album and this single are the result of their inspired efforts, demonstrating just the type of new blood that might stir it up a little in an adult top 40 world where gifted female singer/ songwriters are sadly becoming a rarity all over again. --BILLBOARD MAGAZINE, CHUCK TAYLOR/EDITOR
