How it all started ...
Hymn from above has first seen the day on March of 2000. Patrick, Philippe and Guillaume had always been playing old school/ punk rock together but Patrick after a while started bringing new influence from some bands he had just picked up like Turmoil, His hero his gone and Merauder. The sound then got more aggressive but still kept the melody it always had.
The band started to play localy but Laurent who originally played drums had to go because of another band he was involved with. So J-D came along to fill in for a few shows but he ended up playing for a year and a half.
In September 00 , they released a four songs demo which the Montreal hardcore scene received quite well.
The band then played a lot of shows in Montreal and around with different bands like Ensign, Buried alive, Arkangel and got a new bass player, Sebastien. J-D by that time became the second guitarist.
The next summer they recorded a 6 tracks cd that became the "Roses As The Last Gift" CD/EP. They released it with a friend of the band, J-F, who was starting a label at the time. The release worked really well and got distributed all across Quebec and online through Lumberjack-online website. The band grew even more locally and started playing a little in the US.
Dennis came along not long ago as the new bass player and the band is now looking forward to release a full-length album by the end of the summer.
