Hermes House Band

In 1984, a bunch of students picked up their instruments and started the Hermes House Band, named after their student fraternity "Hermes" in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. What started off as simply "having some fun" soon became "serious business".

Ten years ago the first album was released. "010 Hallo Rotterdam" was a big hit for student audiences all over the Netherlands. The songs were in the Dutch language and had topics like shower together, little rabbits and naughty girls. You dig it?

A few years later Hermes House Band hit the big time with their superior remake of Gloria Gaynor's "I will Survive". Reaching the number 1 position in the Dutch charts, the whole country was singing "Lalala" in discotheques, football stadiums and a variety of other places.

After the Netherlands the Lalala virus spread all over the world.

1995 "I will survive" #1 in the Netherlands 1996 "I will survive" #5 in Belgium 1997 "I will survive" #3 in France 1998 France becomes world champion soccer and "I will survive" returns in the charts climbing up to #3 in the charts. The band records their party album. 998: "I will survive" reaches the magic number of 1.000.000 sold copies 1999: HHB conquers Germany (#17), Canada and Mexico (top 10). 2000: "Can't take my eyes off of you" highest new entry in the German charts: #28 one week after release! In Germany the "Life is a Party " album is released, containing a selection of their greatest hits.

And the party isn't over yet……..
