Hatesphere

BEGINNING OF THE END:

The story of HateSphere takes its beginning a long time ago. In 1993 the three high-school mates Jesper Moesgaard (drums), Claus Nielsen (vocals?)and Frantz Dhin (guitar) started a band called Cauterized. None of the members had ever tried to play before, and they logically started out playing cover tracks of their favourite bands such as Slayer and Sepultura. They quickly changed the name to Necrosis and continued rehearsing cover tracks in their humble rehearsing room in the local school in Odder, Denmark. If it was the smell attracking him, I cannot say, but some way one little school boy named Peter Lyse Hansen got hold of the information, that Necrosis was searching for another guitar-player, and when he realised, that they were playing death metal, he contacted them, because he liked this form of music and needed someone to play with. They accepted him, and they began rehearsing tracks like "Dead skin mask" and "Seasons in the abyss" by almighty Slayer, "Hollowman" by Entombed and "Dead embryonic cells" by Sepultura. Luckily for you it is not possible to hear how it sounded, because all traces of the early works of Necrosis have been erased for good... and we mean LUCKILY FOR YOU!!!!

THE FIRST DEMO: CONDEMNED FUTURE (1995)

Necrosis made their live debut in 1994 at some music contests in Denmark, and it made them want some more (no one liked them, but what the fuck!). They started writing their own songs and in 1995 they decided to make their first demo. They entered the (in)famous Borsing Recordings in Aarhus, DK, and recorded "Condemned future" in one April-weekend that same year with Jan Borsing producing it. The style on the demo was old school death metal and showed pretty much the music the band was listening to every day. They hadn't found their own style, but they had at least found a place to start!

Shortly before this demo, Frantz had moved to Aalborg, and as a replacement they got Jespers brother, Jan, on the guitar. Because they had never had a bassplayer, Frantz agreed to help them out during the recordings. Later that year Frantz came back to the band this time taking care of the bass fulltime, and Necrosis played a couple of gigs with Frantz band from Aalborg, Despondent Soul (it wont get any worse than this!). In 1996 they played some gigs with Cookypuss (punkrock) and Papilla (girl rock band), but apart from that not much happened. Some songs were made, but they were never used live or in the studio (they stunk!!!). The band felt that vocalist Claus, was showing a growing lack of interest in the band, and although the band had never been really serious, the rest of the band wanted a to go a little further than Claus, and they decided to kick him out!

THE SECOND DEMO: DISCONNECTED '97 (1997)

It didn't take long before a tall curly boy from Aarhus contacted them, because he had read, that they were searching for a new vocalist. His name was Jacob Bredahl, and when they heard how he could sing, they immediately hired him. This all happened in early 1997. Suddenly the songwriting went much easier, and later that year the second demo ("Disconnected '97") was made.

Again they used Borsing Recordings, but this time with Tue Madsen (Grope) producing it. This, compared with an improved songwriting, made this demo come out much better than the debut. The style was more experimenting and faster now, and the demo got some incredible reviews, especially in Germany. The band also got some contract proposals, but they turned them all down... and luckily for that!

THE THIRD DEMO: SPRING '98 (1998)

The band decided to continue working on the fast and melodic style, and in 1998 they recorded their third and selfproduced demo, which was called "Spring '98". Everything had been improved, and suddenly the band had found a path to follow. The demo was sent to various labels, but no one took the bite!

EXTREMITY RISING VOL.4 (1999)

There was one man showing a little interest. His name was Jacob Hansen (Ex-Invocator), and at that time he had his own record label, Serious Entertainment (RIP), in Denmark. He released some albums called "Extremity rising" containing unsigned acts from Denmark, and he wanted Necrosis to record a track for the forthcoming "Extremity rising vol.4". Even before that happened, another member was friendly kicked out. For a long time the band had felt, that Frantz wasn't fitting the band anymore, and in the spring of '99 a new bassplayer, Mikael Ehlert Hansen, was found.

Shortly after that, they entered Borsing Recordings again to record the song "Addicted soul" for the Extremity-sampler, and again it was Tue Madsen producing.

THE DEBUT ALBUM: HATESPHERE (2000/2001)

This song made such a great impression on Jacob Hansen, that he decided to give them a record deal on his own label. Shortly before this another member had disappeared: Jan didn't want to play this kind of music anymore, and he felt, he had to make to many compromises, and therefore he decided to leave. In his place old axeman, Ziggy, was found, and together with him the songwriting for the album began. Not only should they write songs for the album, but another thing had to be solved at the same time... a new name for the band!

You should think that this would be over in a minute, but it can be very difficult to find the right name, when you have to. Finally a new name was found, and Necrosis was now known as HateSphere... In March 2000 HateSphere entered the studio to record their long awaited (for themselves!) debut album together with producer Jacob Hansen. Again Borsing Recordings was used to record the drums and the bass, but the guitars, vocals and the mixing was done at mr.Hansens own Aabenraa Studios in Aabenraa, DK. The recordings were done in just 11 days, and the album was ready to be released... so they thought! But due to economical problems mr.Hansens record label had to shut down, and suddenly HateSphere had an album just ready to release, but no one to release it! A very frustrating situation, but the band wasn't ready to give up. Two amazing gigs were played: One supporting thrash gods Testament, and another supporting Anathema and Mayhem in Manchester, UK! Really incredible shows, and on top of that a label seemed to be interested in the album. Italian label, Scarlet Records, heard the album and were willing to give HateSphere a deal. Around christmas-time 2000 the contract were signed, and finally the album was ready to be released. Around the same time a new drummer was found. The man with the big nose, Morten Toft Hansen, was the new man behind the drumkit, and he was replacing Jesper Moesgaard, who was actually the only original member left in the band (Well, Peter was close, but not quite there). And then finally on the 16th of April 2001, almost a year after the recordings, the album was released... Now HateSphere is ready to set the world on fire and kick everybodys sorry behinds! Hell is here... HateSphere
