Gorgasm

GORGASM is a grind death metal band from Chicago Illinois. The band was formed after the break-up of CREMATORIUM in 1994. Guitarists Tom Tangalos and Tom Leski, along with bassist and original GORGASM member Russ Powell, decided to pursue their interests in creating a band that combined the brutality of American grind with some of the more musical styles associated with the European or over-seas bands.

After many failed attempts of trying to find a vocalist, the band decided to share the vocal responsibilities. Each member had done lead vocals in their previous bands. In the summer of 1996, the band recorded their first demo. It was a six-song tape that was released independently later that year. The demo received much praise throughout the underground and established GORGASM as one of Chicago's fastest and most brutal bands.

Despite the demo's favorable response, the band wanted to develop their style into one that was slightly more technical, yet twice as relentless and aggressive. In order to do this, the band recruited the talents of drummer Derek Hoffman. After a few months of rehearsing and playing shows, GORGASM recorded their cd release entitled... "STABWOUND INTERCOURSE". It was released in March 1998 on Pulverizer Records, and received an overwhelming response. Since its release the band has done shows around the mid-west, including the MILWAUKEE METALFEST ad OHIO DEATHFEST. GORGASM is a band that will always strive to play insanely fast, sick music with intense grinding passages and blasting harmonies.
