"After the release of Bloody Blasphemy in April 1999 we entered a quite turbulent period of time. First of all we kicked off with a European tour with Immortal which was quite alright to do. We could see that the tours we had done in the past to promote The Grand Grimoire album had left a good impression on the audience. We felt that we could expand our popularity show by show.

After this tour we entered the festival season and we were chosen to play the Dynamo festival which was an undescribeable experience. We played the second stage at Dynamo and the tent was more than full. Sometimes the audience screamed louder than the PA system. It was really weird to hear thousands of people yell 'Boiling Blood' like maniacs!!!

A few months later we played the Wacken festival which was also an incredible experience. At the end of 1999 we toured Europe again to promote Bloody Blasphemy, this time with headliners Morbid Angel. Again a very succesful tour.

Early 2000 our greatest dream came true! We toured on the Death Metal Massacre with Cannibal Corpse five weeks in The States. I think the best thing that ever happened to me. Some people travelled for 7 hours to see us play, and there was also this guy who flew from state to state to see our shows… The movie hadn't ended yet. In April 2000 we toured Japan with Ritual Carnage. In a weeks time we saw the biggest cities on earth, and the Japanese audience was one of a kind.

Unfortunately our drummer Roel left the band after the Japanese tour for personal reasons. We managed to write the new album in a months time, but no drummer to record it. We knew Tony Laureano from Angel Corpse and we asked him to play the new album. Luckily he said yes and a few weeks later Ravenous was recorded. His influence on the album is quite obvious. This is the fastest God Dethroned album by far, but still our typical melodies are all around. Since Tony is the new drummer for Nile we don't know who will be behind the drumkit when we play the No Mercy festivals in April 2001."

Facts:

God Dethroned was formed by mainman Henri Sattler in 1991. After one demo they released their debut album The Christhunt on a tiny German label. Due to problems with the other band members and the record company, Henri decided to split the band. He then formed Ministry Of Terror, a Thrash Metal band, and released with them the 'Fall Of Life' album in 1994. After a European tour Henri left the band and re-formed God Dethroned. With new band members and better songs in his back, Henri and the new God Dethroned recorded The Grand Grimoire and linked a deal with Metal Blade. Three albums and many tours later, God Dethroned is stronger than ever before and Ravenous, their latest and most brutal effort so far, an intense, massive statement. Look forward to see them at the No Mercy Festival in April and on their headliner tour later on this year!
