Furthest Drive Home

Furthest Drive Home were a 3-piece Pop/Rock band from Farnham, UK. They formed in 2003, and played their first gig not long after, at Guildford University, Surrey. The final line up was completed in 2004 after the band met bassist Jim McCarthey through various friends. The band released their EP Lost in Genre in the summer of 2005, before playing the side stage at Brighton's "Taste of Chaos" festival, alongside the likes of The Used, Killswitch Engage and Funeral For A Friend . In the same year Furthest Drive Home were featured on a special Drive-Thru Records/Pure Volume Compilation CD alongside Midtown, Gym Class Heros and Homegrown with the song Future Full of Jive which was track listed as "Control Yourself". In January 2007, the band signed to Hungry Kid Records and recorded their debut mini album, The Complete First Series at Ignition Studios in North London, with the mastering being completed at the world famous Abbey Road Studios.

In June 2007, The Complete First Series was released alongside lead single, Directors Cut to critical acclaim from the likes of Kerrang, Rock Sound, Tuned and Big Cheese Magazines along with support from BBC Radio, XFM and Kerrang Radio. In August the video for the band's second single Forget His Facade reached the no.2 spots on both the MTV2 Rock Chart and the Red Button Chart, whilst the band played an exclusive Kerrang awards show with Funeral for a Friend. In September they featured on the bill along with Elliot Minor at Butserfest. December 2007 saw the release of a third and final single from the mini album, with the song Diamond Watch. The B-Side to Diamond Watch was an exclusive Frank Musik remix of the first single, Directors Cut.

The band are one of the originators of the home counties pop music scene, which along with Furthest Drive Home has produced such acts as You Me At Six, Saving Aimee, Tonight Is Goodbye, Naked in Black, We Are The Ocean, Look I'm A Ghost, All Forgotten, We're Not Superheroes Anymore and Hearts Under Fire. The band have also toured and played with such bands as Gallows, Hundred Reasons, Kill Hannah, Enter Shikari, Lethal Bizzle, The Rumble Strips,The Used,Hellogoodbye, Shiny Toy Guns,The Blackout, Kids in Glass Houses and Scouting For Girls.

In March 2008, Furthest Drive Home played the 2008 SXSW Music Conference in Austin, Texas. The show they played was put on by KERRANG and In Case Of Fire, Enter Shikari and The Answer played the show. Also in March 2008, FDH released two brand new tracks on their myspace titled "Don't You Worry" & "I Pray Cruel", which were taken from their as yet un-announced debut full length album.

In April 2008, the band toured with Elliot Minor and US stars The Higher culminating in a date at the legendary London Astoria In June/July FDH toured went on a headline tour with friends Data Select Party and Kill The Arcade in support. Furthest drive home supported spectrum 7 at the tumbledown dick

At the end of September Furthest Drive Home playedtheir first European dates when they headlined at the Altimira Music Festival in Barcelona. After that, the band headed out on tour with US dance stars Innerpartysystem and also played a one off show with From First To Last

In November 2008 the band supported the critically acclaimed American band Anberlin on 4 of their dates. Then after this they saw out the year supporting You Me at Six & Kids in Glass Houses in Ireland.

In February 2009 FDH opened for the new American Buzz band Forever the Sickest Kids.

On March 18 the band announced an indefinite hiatus. They completed 5 final dates in April 2009.
