Forlorn Suffering

Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Forlorn Suffering began in October of 1998 when Dave Wylie (Guitars, Bass, Programming) and Steve Kwok (Vocals, Programming) came together to form the entity that became known as Forlorn Suffering. Forlorn Suffering play a sweeping style of melodic Death metal that also draws heavily on influences from the genres of Black and Doom. Creating an atmosphere of darkness and light, mixing aggression with melody, Forlorn Suffering have carved out a niche of their own, unwilling to follow trends or lapse into mediocrity.

Influenced by bands such as Theatre of Tragedy, Edge of Sanity, Cradle of Filth, Tristania, Dissection, Crown of Thorns, In Flames and Hypocrisy, Forlorn Suffering show that there can be diversity in extremes, whilst still injecting a strong display of originality. In early 1999 the band recorded a promo with Crucible of Agony guitarist Erik. Very limited copies of this promo were released with a very favourable response. In November 1999, Forlorn Suffering began work on their demo CD, again recording with Erik. Displaying improved songwriting abilities and adding a barrage of symphonic keyboards, the demo “Internal Torment” gained recognition and favourable reviews.

In August 2000, Scott Worsley joined the lineup as a second guitarist. James Sims (bass) and Jay Taylor (keyboards) soon followed in October 2000. In November FS were joined by Dan Nahum on drums. Shortly after a successful live debut at the Forest Inn (Bexley) in March 2001, Dan left the band and was replaced by Mike O'Brien.

Forlorn Suffering were offered a spot on the Eternal Frost Webzine compilation in 2001 which includes other noted undergreound bands such as Encabulous, Darkness Eternal and Castrum. In August, Scott left the band with James taking over on guitar. Due to outside commitments Mike was unable to continue as drummer and departed in October.

In the meantime Forlorn Suffering entered a competition for the metal compilation "Underearthed" run by 2RRR (88.5 FM) and The Dead End metal program. The song "Within the Ashes of Life" was chosen to appear on the forthcoming compilation.

Bob Lawson was found at a local gig in December and soon filled Mike's shoes behind the drum kit. In late January 2002 Damien Turton tried out for the vacant bass spot and was immediately brought in to complete the lineup. After three succesful gigs with bands such as Atomizer, Repugnance, Avathalor and Malice, Damien left due to outside commitments.

Christian Heinrich (ex Eros Thanatos) took over the bass role in April 2002. Forlorn Suffering plan on releasing a new cd before the years end with many people asking for more.
