The glory days of Swedish sounding Death Metal are pretty much long gone. Bands that helped start the uprising in the Scandinavian scene are history. However a band foreign to Scandinavia has crashed the gauntlet. Germany's own FLESHCRAWL have re-lit the torch of melodic death metal. FLESHCRAWL are certainly not new to the metal scene. This is their 4th album in total, and 2nd for Metal Blade. With each release FLESHCRAWL has sharpened their skills as musicians, and added more melodic brutality each time.
SOULSKINNER is a testament to the glory and power Death Metal. The aggressiveness and energy that made Death Metal a force in the metal world, has been brought back through the skin grinding sound of SOULSKINNER. FLESHCRAWL have fused their influences together in a way that creates a vibe that bands like Entombed and Dismember once had, but with the brutal approach of FLESHCRAWL vocalist of Sven Gross, there is no mistaking the thick wall of an audible massacre.
SOULSKINNER delivers musical endeavors that weak-minded listeners will not be able to withstand. However, seasoned Metal listeners will appreciate the breakdowns, flowing double bass, gut chewing vocals, and anthems to everything in the underworld! Songs like "Breeding the Dead" and "Dying Blood" display everything that Metal fans love; speed, brutality, and overall aggressiveness that no other music genre can provide. On "The Forthcoming End" vertebrates will be slipping and peeling away form each other, a true war type epic, carving its imprint in your memory. Branding the true horrid nature that FLESHCRAWL has dug up from the grave, and strung up for everyone to see.
