In late summer of 2003, long time touring & studio drummer Daniel Margasa decided to begin producing local bands in his area. Several months into new venture he found himself being inspired to write & record new original material of his own. Using late night studio hours and the tail ends of various band sessions, Daniel started to record the demos that approximately 2 years later would be the Five Star Loser debut release on Polygraph Records.
The Actual search for a band did not begin until January of 2005, when Daniel came across an ad in a local guitar shop in Augusta, Maine. The ad was posted by 21-year-old SYX Trent a heavy Handed six-string player who Daniel Quickly convinced to fill the BASS Player slot. After 2 months of horrifying drummer auditions Daniel put in a desperate call to friend & fellow drummer Ronnie Contant, to see if he could fill in the drum seat. For the bands first show. Ronnie agreed & also quickly accepted the position as the bands permanent skin basher.
If you’re wondering why the band is called 5 Star Loser! Daniel having been outcasted several times by the major labels & various music media organizations realized that BIG Businessmen in suits may have a lot of money to budget on artists but haven’t got a clue as to what music really means to the artist & the fans. The suits don’t want anything real, they only want the garbage they can create & sell with their Big Budgets. They’re wasteful, abusive, and they won’t sign winners. So, Daniel is just giving them what they asked for, those greedy 3 martini drinking moguls.
5 Star Loser is a testament to the fact that anybody can be who they want to be and do what they want to do without the politically correct approval of all the Big Business Bull Shitters. Fuck the Big Record CO’s & the Lying Media; music is creative by the fans, for the fans you corporate assholes.
