THE MIGHTY EXTOL RETURNETH!
When EXTOL first appeared to the major public in 1998 they were a breath of fresh air to a putrid Death Metal scene in bad need of a makeover.
With their songwritingskills, will to experiment and master musicianship EXTOL came, saw and conquered like nothing before. Their Norwegian blood carries the fury of the northsmen, but also holds the mystical melancholy of Edward Grieg and therin lies their greatness.
Formed in 1994 by PETER ESPEVOLL (vocals), CHRISTER ESPEVOLL (guitar, backingvocals) and DAVID HUSVIK (drums, backingvocals), the band worked hard and developed a fresh sounding mix of Powermetal, old-school Death and traditional Heavy Metal.
The band remained in the rehearsalspace sharpening their skills and brought in a second guitarist to further improve the sound and when OLE BØRUD of Norwegian Death / Doom Metal pioneers SCHALIACH entered the ranks everything just fell into place. EXTOL had the talent, skill and courage to find their very own brand of Metal - as liquid as quicksilver, yet as hard as platinum and executed with diamond sharp precision.
When the formula was right EXTOL recorded their debutalbum BURIAL for the Swedish label ENDTIME PRODUCTIONS and blew away the underground scene like no band has before. As they went on the road in Scandinavia and the US audiences got the final proof of EXTOL's greatness, because seldom has the world seen such a tight unit. Like a whirlwind of fury, the band truly excels when playing live and the music intoxicates the listeners emotions like some ancient potentate.
While EXTOL returned to writing and recording ENDTIME PRODUCTIONS released a limited edition Digipak MCD with new tracks as well as a few rare ones and remixes by industrial legends SANCTUM and RAISON D'ETRE. Fearless in their lust to experiment, these tracks showed a new, though hardly suprising side of EXTOL. Elements of Industrial had been evident before, as well as symphonic music, jazz and just anything inspiring and envigorating.
And with their brand new album UNDECEIVED EXTOL will continue their quest of the perfect blend of beauty and aggression, now also being strengthened by TOR MAGNE S. GLIDJE, also known as a member of the highly progressive Norwegian Black Metal band LENGSEL.
Whether it's at lightning speed or in slow-motion, performed electrical or acousticlly, this band will never lose track of the foundation of all music - melody.
