Evridiki was born on the 25th of February in Limasol, Cyprus and she grew up in Nicosia. She was still a little girl at nursery school when she started to show her love for music, singing and dancing. She started guitar lessons when she was 8 years old and afterwards at high school she started theory, harmony and piano lessons at the Greek Conservatory of Nicosia.
She attended many school musical events and she traveled in many European countries with a big choir which consisted of many children from schools all over Nicosia during the first years after the war of 1974, singing traditional songs, and others especially written for Cyprus, the war and fugitives. During her first adolescent years she participated in a lot of song competitions and out school events, singing with her guitar, or as member of various groups, playing mainly songs of Beatles. In 1981 and still high school student presents herself for first time in the Cypriot Television in musical Christmas emissions. In 1983 she is selected by CyBC (Cypriot Broadcasting Corporation) and takes part in the vocal group that represented Cyprus in Eurovision Song contest with the song of Stavros Sideras "I agapi akoma zi" performed by Elpida. She is presented two more times at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1986 and 1987 with the song of Petros Giannatos "Tora zo" performed by Elpida and the song "Aspro Mavro" of Andros Papapavlos performed by Alexia. In September of 1987 she leaves for Paris, where she studies at "Studio des Varietes", being the first accepted foreign and non French student. There she studies phonetics, guitar, theory, harmony and also dancing, body and face expression and performing.
Afterwards she is being accepted at "Berklee College of Music" in Boston, USA where she completes her music studies (phonetics, basic keyboard, ear training, History of Music, History of Jazz, Jazz Harmony, instrumentation). She stays in Boston for one year and when in the summer of '89 she goes to Athens, she meets Phillipas Papatheodorou (President of EMI then) after initiative of her good friend and colleague afterwards Leonidas Malenis, and she signs her first discographical contract. So, she settles down in Athens with her fiancé then Giorgos Theophanous, she abandons her studies and she opens a new door which leads her to her goals and the fulfillment of her child dreams.
In the autumn of 1989, just after her first audition with Giorgos Hatzinasios, she starts singing in "Michel" with Giorgos Hatzinasios, Giannis Spanos and Marios Tokas. Afterwards works in many music halls of Athens.
In 1991 the album "To proto mas parti" in which Evridiki participates with Dakis, Giorgos Polihroniades and Manto, singing "Zitas" (Viens - Viens).
The release of her first personal album becomes true. In 1991 she releases "Gia proti fora" which includes songs of Alexis Papadimitriou, Giorgos Theophanous and Leonidas Malenis. Her beloved friend Dakis takes part. "To mono pou thimame" hits the charts, then the song "Gia proti fora", "Fige" etc. and Evridiki gains a place in young people's hearts.
In 1992 she is awarded as the Best First Appearing female singer in the "Popcorn Music Awards", she represents Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest with George Theophanous's song "Teriazoume" and after some months she releases the album "Poso ligo me ksereis", composed just by Giorgos Theophanous.
In 1993 she wins the award of Best Performance for the song "Poso ligo me ksereis". In April 1993 she is being married to her beloved Giorgos Theopanous and in late 1993 they release their third album titled "Misise me". Evridiki gets more and more famous and record sales are being boosted.
She represents for once more Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 with the song "Eimai anthropos ki ego" composed by Giorgos Theophanous, showing a complete side of her performance.
In the summer of '94 she presents the concert titled "Ziliaris ouranos" joining successfully songs from her discography with famous musicals like "Cats", "Grease", "West Side story", etc.
Her next work "Fthinoporo gynaikas" is being recorded in Athens, the mixing in a London studio and is released in the spring of 1995. The album is awarded with the Best Album Cover award and Kostas Trigonis as the Best Lyricist for the song "Fovame" in the music song contest of Popcorn Magazine. She presents a series of concerts all around Greece and Cyprus titled "O,ti me aggizi" and performs in Lycabitus Theater in Athens.
In 1996 she releases her fifth album titled "I epomeni mera". The song "Afto to fili" is being visualized and its video clip is presented by MTV. In November '96 she gives birth with George Theophanous to their son Aggelos. Her son becomes the most important thing, playing the first role in her life and brings many big changes to Evridiki. She continues to perform and preparing her next album, struggling to find a good balance between her work and her family.
In 1997 she releases "Pes to mou afto", which contained a duet with Antonis Vardis. This job looked like Greek Laika - with exception the lullaby for her son Aggelos - following the trend of the years, astonishing many people, but allowing her to try herself in another style of music. Evridiki believes in ordeals, loves changes and challenges them, because she believes that this way she is able to find out every side of herself and become what she really is and loves more.
So the next year, 1998, she tries pop-ethnic sounds and releases "Dese mou ta matia" which becomes her first album in Greece. In her birth country Cyprus, most of the albums have become gold and platinum. Valantis takes part in "Den telionoume pote", which is being awarded as the Best Duet in the annual music contest of Popcorn Magazine.
In 1999 she releases "To koumbi", from which the songs "Afta pou krivo mesa mou" and "Trito sirtari" hit the greek charts, and in 2000 she releases "Ola dika sou". Meanwhile she celebrates her 10 years in the Greek Discography.
This is her last job with Giorgos Theophanous. They have already agreed that the next job should be different. Evridiki has started writing her own songs and approaching new colleagues, song-makers of the alternative music scene.
In 2001 after performing in the Greek version of the musical "The King and I" with Mimi Denisi the role of Taptim, she prepairs her new songs written for her by Giorgos Dimitriades, Giorgos Aloupogiannis, Dimitris Karras (from the group Puzzle) and Dimitris Korgialas (all representatives of the pop-rock alternative scene), and she also prepares a performance for the "House of Art". She begins on the 4th of Ferbruary 2002 and the night performances extend until March. This is the most interesting thing Evridiki has done by then on her own. That period her divorce with George Theophanous is revealed, but they have already succeeded in remaining very good friends and beloved than ever.
In May 2002 she releases the album "Live ... ki allios", a live recording of her performances at House of Art in Athens. Evridiki's first song written and composed by her can be found in this album.
In early 2003 she releases "Oso fevgo girizo" (the job she was preparing since 2001), which contains two songs written and composed by her. Dimitris Korgialas takes part in two songs. Together they perform at "House of Art" and "Cafe-Theatro" in Athens. In the summer she takes part in a concert of her ex husband Giorgos Thophanous, which was recorded and released in a double CD. She also takes part in a concert of Vasilis Papakonstantinou, which was also recorded and released in a CD. This last participation was the cause for a beginning of live performances with him.
In the spring of 2004 and during the summer she tours all around Greece. In late '04, her record company Minos EMI releases a CD with 21 "Best Of" songs, and a DVD with 20 of her video clips from 1991 until 2002.
In middle February she releases her latest CD "Sto idio vagoni". All the songs were composed by Dimitris Korgialas and written by him and Lilian Dimitrakopoulou. Evridiki wrote two of the songs (music and lyrics) and there are two duets with Dimitris Korgialas and Georgia from the group Mple. In November she goes to Thessaloniki for a series of live appearances with Stelios Rokkos, Giannis Vardis and Eleni Peta.
The quartet continues the live appearances in Athens in the spring of '06. During summer she tours all around Greece with Dimitris Korgialas, she enters the studio for the preparation of her next CD, she rehearses for live appearances at "Zoom" in Athens, where she starts in December with Eleni Peta, Dimitris Korgialas and Giorgos Perris. She accepts CyBC's (Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation) proposal to represent for a third time Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki, Finland with a song of Dimitris Korgialas. "Zoom" is being renewed, her new performances are being directed by White Room, the grand opening is on 15/12/06 and "Zoom" transforms into the most "in" places of alternative music in Athens.
On 23 February she performs for the first time the song "Comme ci comme ça" composed by Dimitris Korgialas and written by Posidonas Yiannopoulos, with which she represented on 10 May Cyprus in the 52nd Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki, Finland.
In middle March she releases her new personal CD with title "13". The 13th CD of her career has 7 songs written by her and the rest are composed by Dimitris Korgialas and written by Posidonas Yiannopoulos, Nikos Moraites, Thanos Papanikolaou and Lilian Dimitrakopoulou.
Currently she is prepairing her summer concerts all over Greece and Cyprus with Dimitris Korgialas.
