In the early ‘90’s Luca Martello and Antonietta Scilipoti, on the ground of previous musical experiences, planned to found a band by mixing various influences from hard-core, crossover, metal and more.
In ’92 infact that project was made concrete by creating Chaos and Technocracy, a band marked with a big impact and a cool sound, quite innovative for that period. As a matter of fact, at that time it was really unusual to hear bands with female vocals into such an extreme musical context.
Of that band was released stuff liike couple of 7” EP’s, a live MCD and various live gigs, some of which played in Austria and Germany.
After many line-up variations and contractual problems, the band (even if pretty known in the underground scene) decided to split-up, officially in December ’97.
However, the two founder members didn’t stop thinking to carry on their musical interest and, availing themselves with their previous experience, decided to found a new band, EVEN VAST.
This time, their musical influences are more ripe than they were in past, as well as their target is definitely more interesting….
Find a proper bass player and with the help of a drummer, go record their music. In summer ’98, after recording their debut album at Beaufort Recording Studio in Bovenkarspel (Holland), EVEN VAST get in search of a label, capable of meeting their musical needs.
They receive some proposals (mostly from foreigner companies) and sign a contract with BLACK LOTUS Records, independent label from Athens (Greece). So, “HEAR ME OUT” (the debut album) gets released in June ’99 and, meantime, the band play some live gigs.
Besides, between September and October ‘99 EVEN VAST record 3 new songs plus 1 cover, to release a MCD, “WHERE THE TREES STILL SPEAK”.
Unfortunately the relationships between band and label get compromised because Black Lotus Records is uncapable of distributing and promotiong the album properly; the band decides to break the deal with the label.
Overcoming it all, the MCD gets released (after many delays) in December 2000, by the German label ARS METALLI and re-released on limited edition picture LP by Belgian act PAINKILLER RECORDS.
Meantime, EVEN VAST record their second full lenght album, again in Holland, supposed to be released in early 2001. Unfortunately ARS METALLI gets into economical difficulties, so the album will never be released through this label.
After getting free from any contract with ARS METALLI the band reaches a deal with PAINKILLER RECORDS, decides to re-arrange the new songs written ‘till then and the album gets recorded and mixed at ONE VOICE STUDIO in Chivasso (Turin, ITALY) between July and August 2001, afterwards mastered at POWERPLAY MASTERING STUDIO in Berlin (Germany).
In January 2002 a CD single “DAWNING GLOOM / SCARED FOR THE LAST TIME” gets released and distributed in Benelux by Painkiller Records and the feedback from both the public and the local medias seems to be good.
Due to Painkiller Records' distribution problems, “OUTSLEEPING” album (this is the definitive album title) is given under license to bigger label MAUSOLEUM Records and will be available in Europe by May 12th 2003.
A video clip of the song DAWNING GLOOM is available as additional track on the CD release, also available by downloading the file from our website.
Latest news, EVEN VAST have just renewed their line-up partly, with new drummer and bass player as you may read below. Actually getting prepared to gig in Benelux for promotion of the upcoming album, as well as always interested to gig everywhere!
