Eternal

Eternal were the sensational R'n'B / Soul pure British Female group of the 1990's. Eternal were made up of four members Kelle Bryan and Louise Nerding and two sisters Easther and Vernie Bennett.

Eternal stormed the charts with thier first single "Stay" in 1993 and it reached a fantastic Number 4. With this Eternal proved that a girl band could sell. They then released thier debut album "Always & Forever" which again done brilliantly in the charts and hit Number 2. By 1994 Eternal had released a total of six singles from thier 14 track first album. Stay, Save Our Love, Just A Step From Heaven, Oh Baby I, So Good and Crazy. But with this fanatastic achievement Louise left the band to pursue a very succsessful solo career in the late '94 which left the three girls to develop a second album and prove themselves again as a three - peice band.

BeBe Winas had been intrested in working with Eternal when he heard the Always and Forever album and with Power of a Woman on the way he produced several songs such as It Will Never End.

So with a new look and sound Eternal released the long and anticapated Power of a Woman single in September 1995 and it hit Number 5. Many other singles followed such as I Am Blessed, Good Thing and a remix version of Secrets. They really did prove themselves with Power of a Woman with great chart sucsess and several awards such as Smash Hits and nominations for the Brit Awards. They then planned to release Up To You and It Will Never End as a B-Side single but when asked if they could sing the theme tune to The Hunchback of Notre Damn they dropped these plans and released the beautiful Someday.

However like any artist they still craved a number one single and after a year old to record they were back in 1997 with Don't You Love Me and it really did make an impact in the charts reaching thier highest position at a very healthy Number 3 there was a clear signal of what was to come.

I Wanna Be The Only One was a duet with BeBe Winas an upbeat tempo song with a feel good vibe. When this reached Number 1 and Before The Rain album reaching Number 4 thier succsess was well and truly earned. With 1997 being a hectic year for Eternal they decided it was best to put forward thier Greatest Hits album and scrapping plans of How Many Tears, I'm Still Crying, and Think About Me for thier next singles of Before The Rain album. With the Greatest Hits released it proved thier sucsess as a phonemonom girl group. It featured all 14 Top 20 singles and the beautiful single Angel of Mine.

But when Kelle Bryan decided to part on a solo career plans of a Who Are You UK release and Might As Well Be Me were scrapped. But Kelle enjoyed a Top Ten hit with Higher Then Heaven but unfourtnatley had to abondon her solo project with falling ill with Lupus.

This left the Bennett sisters as the core writers, and afer a 2 year break they came with thier self titled fourth Eternal album. The sound was quite diffrent it had a much more RnB sound but with weak promotion the album reached 75. But they enjoyed a Number 7 hit with Whatcha Gonna Do. They were rumors that Pillow Talk, A Melody, If She Breaks Your Heart, and Absent From You as singles but when EMI dropped them Eternal faded away with dignity in the late 1999.

The fourth album was exceptionally good and since Eternal ended Easther has enjoyed working a single called Shy Guy, Vernie and Louise have had babies and Kelle Bryan went onto Celebrity Love Island and now is presenting ITV1's gameshow Glitterball as well as planning a date for her album "Breakfast in Bed" which was recorded some time ago.

Eternal will stand the test of time Always and Forever. They have the Power of a Woman and thier has always been sunshine Before The Rain.
