What do you get when you combine heavy hitting, hard rocking, scenesters from Bergen County, New Jersey? Emma. Comprised of six young, talented, musical artists, each member contributes their own personal attributes to form a very unique style. Emma is known for their action packed and energetic live show, which definitely goes without saying that these boys are no strangers to any stage.
With the January 18, 2005 release of their debut EP "…Then We Burnt The Village" on Emerald Moon Records, Emma has grown musically and is a straight up hardworking group. “…Then We Burnt The Village” is soaring to the top of SmartPunk.com’s Top 100, selling thousands of copies both online and at shows, and it isn’t over yet. The raw, cutting edge album shows Emma’s honest passion and musical love and is proof of their maturing into talented top rate band they are today. “…Then We Burnt The Village” breaks the surface between what Emma was, and what they are today. Fronted by Jose Rodriguez, Emma quickly made a mark for themselves spreading their name and music throughout clubs, venues, and VFW halls everywhere. Every band has it’s start, in the beginning Emma self pressed their own releases, artwork, design, and all, and sold hundreds of copies. Emma impressed any crowd they played to in the tri-state area forming a solid following and a strong basis for support. With the musical background, Guitarists Adam Kobylarz, Stephen Jasko, Synth / Guitarist Robbie Hasset, Bassist Ryan Miller, and Drummer Jono Malamed, Emma built and worked for everything they have, and are as a band, to this day.
Upon the “immature” release of their first 5 song EP, Emma left room for growth and progression. Emma’s first release, the 5 song EP, was self pressed and designed and sold hundreds of copies, it was the first preview that any fan could get of Emma, but it definitely not all they had to offer. Although they held nothing back, it was easy for one to hear the passion and the love for music through their early works and it aided as a basis in gaining fans across the country.
Emma has gained major recognition by appearing on the front of PureVolume.com on three different occasions (Featured Artist, PurePick, and PurePromo.) They rose to the top ten charts for nearly three weeks straight, gaining hundreds of thousands of plays and even more and more fans. Emma has shared the stage with many bands that they consider major influences in their music. Their good friends My American Heart, New Jersey's very own Senses Fail and Hidden in Plain View, Acceptance, Dead Poetic, The Chariot, Anadivine, He Is Legend, Gym Class Heroes, Greeley Estates, As Tall As Lions, The Receiving End of Sirens, Name Taken, The Beautiful Mistake, Liar's Academy, Before Today, Gatsby's American Dream, Bayside, A Thorn For Every Heart, Roses Are Red, Bedlight For Blue Eyes, The Sleeping, The Number Twelve Looks Like You, and many countless others, making friends everywhere.
With a line up change, a hectic touring schedule, and writing new songs, Emma has been living the dream ever since. Emma has never held themselves back and never hesitated to take themselves to the next level. With the finalized line up of Jose Rodriguez, bassist Ryan Miller, guitarists Adam Kobylarz and Stephen Jasko, synth player Robbie Hassatt, and drummer Jono Malamed, Emma is quickly making a strong name for themselves, as well as a mark in the hearts of music fans across the country.
