Dreamtale

It all started with Rami Keränen having a vision of a band of his own, a band he would name Dreamtale. The vision became flesh during the early months of 1999, and Dreamtale's music first materialized into a tape during the autumn of 1999. This tape was later to be known as Dreamtale's first demo tape: "Shadow of the Frozen Sun".

With the music ready to be brought to ears of all mankind, Dreamtale started to plan their gigs. To play live, the band's line-up needed to change, and after a few recruits Dreamtale was ready to hit the stage as a supporting act for Sinergy in July 2000.

Things Start Moving

Having gained more success and interest with their live performance the band felt their audience's need for new material, and started recording their second demo tape, later named "Refuge From Reality". All the hard work proved itself worthy when Dreamtale's first demo tape was chosen among 500 demos to participate in the Jyrki Hit Challenge hit contest's semifinal in September 2000. When excerpts from the semifinal were later showed in Finland´s national tv-network, Dreamtale gathered even larger interest. Simultaneously Dreamtale was also named the demoband of the month by SFPerkele.net, which is Finland's largest metal site.

The second demo tape still needed some fixing, and therefore the band retreated into the studio during the last months of 2000 to record and mix their tape some more. On the 1st of March 2001 the demo was finally finalized and ready to be sold, and sold it was indeed: it was sold out on its day of release! Most copies were bought by the Japanese record store DiskHeaven, and it didn't take long for the demo and Dreamtale themselves to gain a lot of interest and appreciation among power metal fanatics.

It's a Deal! The fuzz reached many record labels' ears, and it didn't take long before the battle of the band started with record labels from all over the world offering all sorts of deals. In August 2001 Spinefarm Records made an offer that Dreamtale couldn't refuse, and the record deal was sealed.

Soon after the signing in December 2001 Dreamtale started recording their debut album at Headline studio with producer Pasi Ristolainen, which was then mixed by the famed mixing-guru Mikko Karmila and mastered by Mika Jussila at the Helsinki-based Finnvox Studios.

After completing the album Dreamtale's bassplayer Alois Weimer left the band to concentrate in his studies at the university. Then band asked from their producer Pasi Ristolainen if he'd know any good bassplayers, but Pasi told to the band that he can start playing bass in the band. Knowing Pasi's talents as a multi-intsrumentalist Dreamtale recruited him at once.

And the story goes on...
