Dolores O'Riordan

In mid 1990, singer Dolores was looking for a band that she could sing with. Noel, Fergal, and Mike which had been playing in a band called 'The Cranberry Saw Us' for about 8 months, recently lost their old singer, which left the door wide open for Dolores. The first night of rehersals, in walked Dolores with her keyboard and mike. They set up and played a few songs that Mike had written. Needless to say that things really worked well for them. The sound, the vocals, and the overall vibe of the music was just right.

Within the next few weeks the band recorded some demo tapes to see what the songs would sound like when properly recorded. The tapes were sent out to local record companies, to see what kind of response they would get. The band managed to get some gigs opening for bands at some small bars. In the next couple of months the band continued to play small gigs around the town, and record companies kept coming out to see the band. They released their first album, Everybody Else Is Doing It So Why Can't We, and the album was a huge success. It was a big step for the band as they were the first of their genre to break through into the mainstream industry.

The band has released many successful albums since, the most recent being Bury The Hatchet. The band has had global success, multi-platinum records, and toured all over the world. They have experienced what it is like to start off with something so small and so special, and for it to end up being one of the most popular and well known bands of the 90's. Dolores has played a major roll in their success. With such strong vocals, Dolores is a true diva. We honour Dolores here on AbsoluteDivas!
