The Swedish/German band Dionysus (named after the legendary Greek God of Wine) was formed in the darkest hour of autumn ´99, by Sinergy drummer Ronny Milianowicz. Back after a tour in Japan, together with In Flames and Children of Bodom, he decided that it was time to seize the day. Since that day Dionysus has played on a number of gigs and festivals with bands like In Flames, Freedom Call, Vintersorg, Blaze Bailey etc…
The members are: Ronny Milianowicz (ex. Sinergy) Olaf Hayer (Luca Turilli) Kaspar Dahlqvist (Stormwind) Johnny Öhlin (Nation) Nobby Noberg (Nation)
The musical idea of Dionysus is to mix five very talented musicians dreams and ideas and come up with a unique form of metal that varies from the apocalyptic visions of Dante to experiences best described as sublime.
Dionysus debut album Sign of truth was recorded in Studio Fulda, which is best known for its productions with Edguy and Avantasia. The album was produced by mastermind Tobias Sammet and mixed by Tommy Newton (Keeper of the Seven Keys 1 & 2). To this day Sign of truth has been a great success and has been released all over the globe. Dionysus second album, which will be called Anima Mundi, is almost fully recorded. It will be released early 2003 and further strengthens the solid foundation built by Sign of truth. Heavily awaited, Dionysus hopes you will like it as much as they do! Dionysus also works closely with Hammerfall singer Joacim Cans. You can hear Ronny doing backing vocals on Legacy of Kings, and read Joacim's lyrics in Bringer of Salvation and Bringer of War. Ronny and Joacim also work together on a number of different projects, including the finished musical “The Conspiracy”.
