Demonic Resurrection

Demonic Resurrection was born from the solo efforts of Guitarist/Drummer/Keyboardist/Bassist The Demonstealer who had several songs to his name. Once the right musicians were found his vision of Demonic Resurrection was brought to life. Demonic Resurrection is basically focused on doing original music. The band has been through a lot of lineup changes since its birth. The bands music cannot be confined to any particular genre of metal as it is a mix of all styles of metal but it does lean more towards the Black/Doom side a bit more. The band has a never say die attitude as they had played their 1st show without a bassist and the 2nd show without a keyboardist and a bassist.

The band has come a long way since it started in March 2000 as they released they debut album "DEMONSTEALER" in Nov 2000 just 9months after they formed. The album was well recieved all over.

DR also became the 1st Indian band to be covered by an international artist when Jangli Jagga of Pakistan covered their song "DEMONIC RESURRECTION".

DR has also been signed by Brazilian Indie Label Vampiria Records who will be distributing their Re released Demo in Brazil in CD-R format.

DR has been mentioned in the local papers several times and also been featured in Rock Street Journal and various zines over the world.

The Story Of Demonic Resurrection.............. (in full)

"Demonic Resurrection started out officially in March 2000 but the real beginning was way before over the previous two years when I learnt the guitars/drums and programming and started composing music on my own. Finally around Jan 2000 I started my search for musicians to help my bring my vision of DR to life. My earlier plans were too just get on stage and play along with my drum machine as a solo act which many people told me was not a very good idea. So finally in Feb by chance I met an old school mate of mine Prashant who had returned from the states for his holidays and he used to play the guitar too. So I asked him if he would be interested in playing in a band. He agreed. I requested a friend of mine Farhad who played keyboards to join us in the band. He was not into metal at all but he agreed. We were yet to find a drummer and bassist.

Prashant managed to get his guitarist friend Aditya who was also in my school to join us on rhythm guitars and Aditya got with him his drummer friend Yash. So the lineup was pretty much completed but we were still without a bassist. I tried doing bass and singing but things were not working out so we decided to go ahead and play without a bassist. Aditya, Prashant and Myself started jamming from March 15th 2000.On April 1st Yash and Farhad joined us since their exams were over. We played our 1st gig on 6th April 2000 just after 6 days of intense practice. We played 3 original tracks: My World Of Sadness, Darkened Moon and The Creatures Of Ancient Blood and a small cover medley which was Slayers - Seasons In The Abyss with Sepultura - Slave New World. We played with Naked Earth, Sceptre and Metakix. Our performance got a good review even though we lacked a bassist. After this gig Prashant had to go back to the states to complete his studies so he left the band. Due to this I took up the guitar duties in the band along with Aditya. Our next gig came 2 months later but at this time Farhad had gone abroad for a holiday so the band was just Aditya, Yash and Myself. Which was a 2 guitars, vocals and drums arrangement and still no bass.

We played this 2nd gig of ours with Naked Earth as a 3 piece and by now we had some more originals so we dropped the medley of covers. The show was okay people seemed to be enjoying our stuff. After this gig Farhad returned and we began jamming regularly. Finally we found a bassist - Ashwin. He was one of Aditya’s friend and had just started playing a few months back. We also had Nikita who was an old college friend of mine join the band as a female vocalist which gave our music a gothic feel to it. So with our new lineup and all set to kick ass we made our next appearance at DOMINATION -THE DEATHFEST. We played alongside many heavy more experienced extreme metal bands of India like Morticide, Blasphemy, Threnody, Kryptos, Yama and Nemesis. We opened the gig and we got quite a good crowd response even though there were some major blunders while playing. Soon after Deathfest Farhad decided to leave DR as he had to concentrate on his studies. Nikita who was also a keyboardist took up the keyboard duties. The next gig we played was with Sceptre were we gave one of our tightest performances to date. We at this point were lacking a real lead guitarist. So during our search for a lead guitarist we found Ashish who also played in another death metal band in Bombay called Abhor. So once again an addition to our lineup. So we now had 3 guitarists in the band. In September once again with Naked Earth we had a show. The show was good but 3 guitars was just too much. After the show I was faced with the situation of having to leave on guitar out of the band which was too be Aditya but then Aditya switched to bass and Ashwin had to leave DR it was one of the hardest decision I had to make. Our next gig was in our very 1st gig out of Bombay and it was at India's Garden City - Bangalore and the event being NLS Strawberry Fields. Once again we had a change in the line up as Nikita could not make it for this gig we recruited Rohit as a temp keyboardist. The show in Bangalore went off well and DR also released their Debut album Demonstealer at the gig and we got a very good response there. Upon returning to Bombay we were hit with another line-up change when our lead guitarist Ashish quit the band because he could not manage playing in 2 different bands. So were down to Nikita, Yash, Aditya and Myself. We played next with Sceptre and we put on another tight performance. Shortly after this gig Prashant returned from the States .IIT's Livewire was just around the corner and since Prashant was there he joined DR for this single gig. At this point the band was facing internal problems and soon after Livewire in spite of putting up a really great performance the band broke but reformed in 2 days time after all the problems were sorted out. Well DR was back to being a 4 piece band and hopefully I thought it would stay this way for a long long time. Well the new year started off dry cause till March we didn’t practice or jam cause I had exams. Our 1st gig of the year came in March at Terna Medical College which was a contest between 6 bands. We had to play this gig without Nikita as she was unable to make it and we ended up coming 2nd place. Within the next 2 days we found ourselves playing another gig. This time it was with Metakix & Naked Earth. The gig was another good one. A month later DR completed 1 whole year and it was a great feeling. We kicked of the celebration by doing a gig with Intestinal Butchery & Naked Earth. DR then for 2 months did some serious jamming and came back with a gig on June 6th with Abhor at the Cyclone Club in Pune. The show was amazing and DR received a response for their music like never before. Sadly this gig was also done without Nikita as she was busy with exams. DEATHFEST was around the corner and DR was on the bill once again. Rohit return to DR to play for Deathfest as a temp keyboardist again. DR got a great response this time around to at Deathfest. Following Deathfest DR returned to the studio to re-record their album "Demonstealer" this time around we did a much better job on the CD.

The next gig which was in August was with Kinky Ski Munkys. This time Nikita was present for the gig and the show was a success. September had come and it was time for the IIT-Delhi College show BLITZKRIEG. This gig saw a big change in DR's lineup as Yash could not make the gig due to personal problems and neither could Nikita. So I took up the drums and vocal duties, Aditya on guitars and Michael of KSM on bass. DR played a tight set and just missed making it to the finals by a narrow margin. Upon returning to Bombay the lineup returned to the familiar one of Aditya, Yash, Nikita and Myself .Out next show was again with KSM but this time it was at the Cyclone Club in Pune. Once again DR rocked Pune and returned to Mumbai for the gig on that very day. The gig being the 1st ever TREMORS organized by Dreamcast. The show featured Epitaph, Pin Drop Violence and Sceptre. The turnout for the show was tremendous and it went off pretty well. Following this was the release of "Deepthroat" which was a compilation of Indian Metal Bands by Throatlatch Records. DR had recorded in the Throatlatch studios their song "Creatures Of Ancient Blood" for this compilation which was released 28th Nov at the Groove Music shop where we performed with KSM,PDV and Metakix. DR got a great response and our track has received good reviews for listeners. This is DR's 1st track with live drums. Two days later another promotional gig for "Deepthroat" followed which was at the Mtv music summit. PDV, Psychomotor and KSM also performed on that day as well. At this point of time a major change took place when Aditya decided to quit the band and pursue other musical interests. It was a big loss for DR. Once again LIVEWIRE was around the corner and DR recruited temp bass Suneil for the show. DR created waves this time around at Mood-I when they got the entire crowd off their feet and head banging. Sadly DR didn’t make it to the finals. We found ourselves without a bassist after Livewire. Our next show was a small once and it was kind of like a DR reunion. We did a small set at an Exhibition at Lokhandwalla Grounds where Aditya played bass. Nikita was absent for this gig. Finally we said goodbye to Aditya for good. That was his last gig with DR. Another college competition R.A.I.T's Unchained 2002 was around the corner and this time we had Anindita from Bangalore playing bass with us.

Nikita at this point was faced with problems of her own and she told us she could not play with us for the gig. The show at RAIT was a huge success and the crowd response was phenomenal. Once more DR just barely missed getting into the finals. returned to Bangalore and DR was without a bassist once more. At this time Nikita informed us that she would not be able to be a permanent member of DR and would only be able to play gigs in Mumbai. The Next step was to find a new permanant bassist. So DR was on the look out for a new bassist. Finally the search ended with Husain from Reptilian Death joining in as the bassist. After 2 weeks of joining and some serious practice DR once again hit the stage at Razzberry Rhino on the 4th of April to celebrate DR completing 2 whole years.Sadly Nikita couldnt make the show and finally confirmed her departure from playing live with the band. The show went off well. With the new bassist finally in place DR continued jamming till the next gig at Razz which was with Aquired Funk Syndrome on the 18th of April. After the gig DR remained dormantThru the months of May and July.In July the band hit rock bottom when original drummer Yash deicided to quit the band to follow other musiacal interests. The band was on an all time low but managed to bag a slot at Indepedence Rock 17.The band roped in drummer Viru from Cranium just 7days before the gig.The day is slowly drawing nearer.
