Satanicon started in early 1999 when Joe Realevil and John Witchhammer decided to get together and start a blackmetal project. Joe on guitar and writing songs (Lyrics and most of the guitar riffs), and John on drums. Been through alot of bass and vocalist line-up changes since. Joe on guitar and John on drums has since been a given. First full lineup was with Tina on bass and Greg on vox. Greg and Tina got sexually involved, Greg got Tina pregnant and...back to the drawing board. Next we found Pat for bass and Rich for Vox. We played a private party gig at this guy Randy's house, about 20 to 30 people showed...we played with this band having nothing to do with blackmetal or deathmetal called "Antithesis." They played in Randy's garage first and later we played in his basement. Pat quit after that and then because of some bullshit, John got thrown out of where he was living (roommate problems). After a few months we got a practice spot which we had to pay for. Rich basically stuck around and we acquired Brian from a neighboring band in the building for bass. We then played our first bar gig on June 17, 2000. But shortly thereafter due to financial problems we had to give up our practice spot and didn't do anything for about a year. We were practicing in this in-law suite that another friend of John's had put him up in which he had on his property. We were starting to get calls for bass and vocals from a local ad we placed in a paper, when suddenly John got into an argument there and got thrown out...he moved back with his mom...but not til April of 2002 did we get a practice spot again but only for four months. We had two unreliable bass players who would pull the "no call no show" thing for two days then suddenly call and say "when's practice again?" And we couldn't get ahold of them either as they weren't anywhere to be reached. We did acquire a vocalist named Leonard who was reliable for showing up for practice but then one day he got taken away to a mental hospital...he was unstable and we knew it from the beginning, but thought his being in the band would keep him busy and out of trouble...didn't work that way. After that John and I got frustrated...my unemployment benefits had run out and I just wasn't having any luck finding work...this all last summer. John wasn't working much but one day a week so we just had to quit for awhile. Now I am in computer tech. school trying to finish and on disability for now getting by but no money for a practice spot. But John says his mom may move back into her old house and we may have a free practice spot again. We do hope to get this going again. I wrote too many songs to just let it go like it never happened. But I also am sort of engaged (my gf and I plan to get married or at least are thinking about it...I live in Cleveland, she lives in Toledo). Anyways, I thought I'd send this bio on my band.
