Deliverance

Formed In Los Angeles, CA in 1985, Deliverance has become one of the most influential bands over the last decade. With the release of their first major label release in 1989 on Intense Records, they floored the industry with their rapid popularity and units sold for a band that stayed primarily in the underground. Produced by metal veteran producer Bill Metoyer, the effort showed how diverse and original their sound really was. Metoyer was quoted as saying "This is the most unique sound in this particular genre, they have coupled together melodic vocals with very heavy aggressive music."

After a very successful debut tour, Deliverance, led by long time front man Jimmy P. Brown II headed back into the studio to record their sophomore effort "Weapons of our Warfare" which again shocked the industry with its pre-shipped orders flowing in before the record was even mixed. It was no mistake that the "Weapons" video gained a healthy share of air time on MTV's Headbangers Ball. Fans were being added daily to this young band's account as well as gaining respect among their peers. With some personal changes and some weighty style changes along the way, Deliverance released a total of seven studio CDs by the year 1995. The winds of change were beginning to leave the sails of the band, and according to founding member Jimmy P. Brown II "We were just burned out." Alas, Deliverance was no more... Until:

After a five year hiatus, Jimmy P. Brown II signed a deal with upcoming label Indie Dream Recordings in St. Louis, MO. He is bringing Deliverance back to the scene with a force that is recognizable to the first incarnation of the band's entrance to the scene back in 1989. Teamed with bass player Manny Morales (Learn, River Disturbance and Camelot in Smithereens), Brown has brought us an extraordinary record with their newest offering. "Assimilation" is an uncompromising blend of early and latter Deliverance with a new modernized overall sound. The band has implemented keyboards into their sound that rounds out their, as Brown puts "Cybernow Sound" hails the charismatic young singer/guitarist.

With the release of "Assimilation", Deliverance has bridged the gap (as it were) between old and new fans alike. They have created an extraordinary sound that was seen at their triumphant return Cornerstone 2001 show on July 4th, 2001. The celebrated Independence Day holiday was also, somewhat ironically, the release date for "Assimilation" - symbolically screaming out the battle cry that "Deliverance is BACK!!!"

What does the future hold? For these young blokes the world is theirs. They plan to tour in support of "Assimilation" and bring their fan base kicking and screaming into the 21st century. Brown states "The world is always changing, we could stay with the flow, be ahead of it, or simply rot contentedly". This band is going to do anything but that.

Are you Assimilated???
