David Ripado

Born in 1973 Studied classical guitar with guitarist Piñeiro Nagy, at Academia de Amadores de Música, where he completed the sixth grade. However he started to study Jazz and the Electric Bass some years later. Studied at the jazz school of the Hot Clube de Portugal, and also took private lessons with teachers like guitarist Pedro Madaleno with who he studied improvise, composition and arrangement. Attended several workshops with important musicians like Phil Markowitz, Ed Neumeister, Arnie Lawrence, Bruce Barth or Henry Martin. He also started teaching for some years now. Teaching some private students, as well as at the jazz school of the Hot Clube de Portugal where he teaches the electric bass and combo. He had the opportunity to teach some workshops and master-classes in places like the conservatory of the city of Horta (Faial - Açores), University of Medecine of Oporto, electric guitar workshop (with Luis Moreno). He also has been playing with several others instrumental music projects like the Pedro Madaleno Trio (with Pedro Madaleno and Bruno Pedroso), Ficções, Underpressure, Spill (of guitarist André Fernandes), the Hot Clube 7tet, Rodrigo Gonçalves 5tet or LUME (Lisbon Underground Music Ensemble). Appeared as a guest musician in the 2002 CD "Just in Time" by guitarist Luis Moreno. In 2003 he recorded the CD "A Ópera Mágica do Cantor Maldito" with Fausto. Recently started his own jazz project, the Miguel Amado Quartet. A band where he has the possibility to play his own compositions. Musicians like Ruben Alves, Vicky, Guto Lucena, Pedro Madaleno or Bruno Pedroso have allready played with this group. In Pop-Rock music he played with people like Fausto, Lucia Moniz, André Sardet, Lena D'Água, Anabela Duarte or David Ripado.
