David Hallyday

David Hallyday (real name David Smet) was born on August 14, 1966 in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. Son of Sylvie Vartan & Johnny Hallyday, he grew up in Normandy & in the United States. He studied music & guitar & in 1979, David was playing drums in his father's concerts. In 1980, after his parents' divorce, David went to California & in 1982, he founded his first band. In 1985, his stepfather Tony Scotti, head of the label Scotti Brothers, encouraged him to record his first single, released in Japan. In 1987, David recorded the soundtrack of the film "He's My Girl". In 1988, he released his first album, True Cool, which sold 900,000 albums & the single "High" was N°1 in France. The following year, he married French model Estelle Lefébure : they had 2 daughters, Ilona, born in 1995 & Emma, born in 1997 & they divorced in 2000. In the 90's, David composed the soundtrack of the film "Lady Beware", composed for his parents & appeared in films. He released his second album Rock'N'Heart in 1990 & was the singer of the bands Blindfish & Novacaine in the mid-90's. In 1999, David released his first French album Un Paradis, Un Enfer & the single "Tu Ne M'As Pas Laissé Le Temps", dedicated to his late grandfather, was another N°1 in France. In 2001, he participated to the Rallye Orpi in Morocco with his father & released Révélation the following year. In 2004, David married Alexandra Pastor & their son Cameron was born in October 2004. The same year, he released his third French album, Satellite. David participated to 24 Heures du Mans & his self-titled album followed in 2007.
