Crystal Lewis

A single word, "fearless," describes the way Crystal Lewis is approaching this time in her life. It also happens to be the title of her upcoming album. This will be Crystal's 16th release and brings her together again with Kirk Franklin. He will be lending his production talents on several of the vocal tracks. Musically, Brian Ray, the album's producer, magically blends together what Crystal is most known for -- pop and R&B. The title, Fearless, was inspired by 2 Timothy 1:7. "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." This is a verse that Crystal has tried to remember and live by all of her life. "The main idea behind Fearless," she says, "is not being afraid or ashamed to take a stand for what you believe in a sort of Witnessing101." Crystal's musical career began at the very young age of four when she sang in her father's church. After a few short years, she had her first professional gig after landing a role in the musical, "Hi-Tops." Her first album shortly followed. In 1992, Crystal decided to bring her talents into the business world and formed Metro One Music with her husband, Brian Ray. They signed artists and soon created a reputation for the label as one of originality, giving their artists the freedom to express themselves musically in a way not yet accepted by the Christian industry. Soon after the label began, Crystal released Remember and joined the cast of Nickelodeon's television program, "Roundhouse" that same year. Following the recording of Remember, Crystal realized God's desire for her to minister to the Latin community. She recorded the Spanish version of Remember titled Recuerda. Recuerda was the first of many Spanish albums she released. In 1996, Crystal recorded her fourth album in Spanish, La Belleza de la Cruz, which won her a Dove Award for Spanish Language Album of the Year in 1998, the first award of it's kind. The following recording, Oro, received the same Dove Award in 1999. The English versions of these two albums, Beauty for Ashes and Gold, have collectively sold nearly 1 million copies to date.

Crystal is currently putting together a collection of greatest hits for her sixth Spanish release. It is titled La Coleccion, and will include several of her biggest hits as well as four new songs from the new album Fearless. Crystal Lewis now resides in Southern California with her husband, business partner and producer Brian Ray, and their two children. She continues to pursue her calling of bringing the message of hope, life, peace and love through the Gospel to as many people as possible.
