Converge

Converge combine the best of the worlds of hardcore, metal, and punk into a comglomeration of musical heaviness that reduces listeners to dust. They began in 1991 with their first demo, which was quickly followed up by their first limited-edition ep, now gathering dust in many a collector's archives. More releases followed over the years, including the debut "Halo in a Haystack" LP, the "Caring and Killing" semi-discography, and 1995's classic "Unloved and Weeded Out" EP. They caught the attention of EVR with the release of "Petitioning the Empty Sky," which was the first Converge record to fully capture (musically and artistically) the mood and experience the band wanted to convey.

Equal Vision revamped this album with brand new liner notes, new packaging, and full remastering, and re-released it while the band was hard at work on their newest effort, "When Forever Comes Crashing." Converge's next release, "Jane Doe," is tentatively scheduled for a late 2000 release. If you get a chance to see this seminal noise-metal-hardcore band live, don't pass it up!
