Russian Progressive Power Metal act that kicked off proceedings with the 1997 demo tape 'Child Of The Flowers'. The band line up at this juncture comprised vocalist Sergey "Immortal" Bendrikov, guitarists Anthony Arikh and Igor Polyakov, two female keyboard players Julia "Red" Egorova and Tatiana Korablina with Vladimir Moochnov on the drums. Subsequent demos included 1998's 'Proles Florum', introducing Alexey Kraev on bass guitar, and 'Taedium Vitae' in 1999. This latter session was recorded completely instrumentally by Arikh, Polyakov, Egorova and Moochnov. That same year the EP 'Febris Erotica' reprised some of the demo material but with guest vocals from I.N.R.I.'s Andrey Kapachov and bass courtesy of END ZONE man Roman Senkin.

The band's first full length CD album 'Dea' arrived in 2001 and saw license outside of Russia into Turkey through Hammer Muzik. New lead vocalist would be Oleg Zhilyakov whilst Vadim Bystrov took on the bass role. CATHARSIS brought in a whole new clutch of members for the 2002 'Imago' album with former END ZONE and MODEM personnel guitarist Oleg Mission and drummer Andrey Ischenko with ex-SATARIAL bassist Alexander Timonin.
