Brainstorm (Metal)

BRAINSTORM have been around since 1989. Back then with Torsten Ihlenfeld and Milan Loncaric on guitar and Dieter Bernert on drums their first demo with seven songs, HAND OF DOOM, was released in 1990 and sold over 1,000 copies! BRAINSTORM played shows with a.o. Stormwitch, Exciter and Rage. In 1991 they appeared on a compilation LP with Kings, Queens and Sins and Law from the first demo. Also in 1991, Andreas Mailänder joined the band on bass.

They recorded 11 songs for their second demo HEART OF HATE in 1992 with their original singer, but he had to leave and was finally replaced by Marcus Jürgens a few months later. Four songs were re-recorded with him, two (Heart of Hate and Valley Of The Kings) appeared on the tape. The third demo THE FIFTH SEASON (six songs) was released in ´94 and the German magazine Rock Hard named them "Newcomer Of The Month". One song, Up From The Ashes, appeared on a compilation CD in ´95.

BRAINSTORM made their fourth demo tape in 1996, PROMO '96 and one of the two songs (Suck My Energy) appeared on another compilation CD. In 1997 BRAINSTORM signed with B.O. Records and their first CD HUNGRY was released. They toured with Morgana Lefay and Solitude Aeternus and also with Skyclad and Maraya. They started to write new songs for their second album. UNHOLY (´98) had a much better sound, because they had the opportunity to work with Dirk Schlächter (Gamma Ray), Harald Sprengler (Stormwitch) and famous producer Charlie Bauerfeind (Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, Virgin Steele, Angra)! Not long after that, Marcus left the band and BRAINSTORM found an excellent replacement in Henne Basse. First show together was the CD presentation on September 6th, 1998. A few weeks later they toured for four weeks with Iced Earth, Sentenced and Wicked Angel. Early 1999 they went to Greece with Labyrinth.

In March Henne left the band to concentrate on his new band Metalium and BRAINSTORM spent months to find a new singer. After very talented Dirk Barron joined them in Wacken (´99) they decided on SYMPHORCE's frontman Andy B. Franck as a permanent replacement. Andy will continue to sing in SYMPHORCE and BRAINSTORM. In 2000 BRAINSTORM signed a deal with Metal Blade and recorded their long awaited third album AMBIGUITY and one track (Savage from the Dr. Stein EP) for the Helloween tribute THE KEEPERS OF JERICHO. On tour with Armored Saint, Jacobs Dream and King Diamond, BRAINSTORM became one of germany´s hottest live acts. Right before they played fantastic shows at the Bang Your Head festival and Wacken Open Air, BRAINSTORM recorded their new album METUS MORTIS. Guitars and bass were recorded at their own Storm-Your-Brain Studio; drums, vocals and also the mix were done at House of Music Studios Winterbach/Germany by Achim Köhler (Primal Fear, Symphorce, Sinner). This is a must for any fan who loves both blistering music and personal lyrics.

After the release of METUS MORTIS, BRAINSTORM will go on tour in January 2002 as the very special guest with Grave Digger.
