In mid-2001, almost 3,000 Argentinean teenagers attended a casting call organized by a TV show called Popstars to assemble a new Latin teen pop group. Ivonne Guzmán, Lourdes Fernández, Virginia Da Cunha, Valeria Gastaldi, and Lissa Vera became the winners, joining their dancing and singing skills in a project called Bandana. Their successful debut album achieved platinum record status soon after its release. Meanwhile, these talented girls traveled to the U.S. to promote their music with appearances in New York and Miami before performing three sold-out shows at Buenos Aires’ Rex theater, one of the most prestigious local venues.
