Although this 5 piece from Weyburn, Saskatchewan are all under 19 don't let there age mislead you. The music found on Away From Here's first LP is anything but immature. Many of the songs deal with heartbreak and heartache like comparing a break up to a car crash like in the song Gently Crash or showing utter bitterness towards a relationship like poison arrows. These boys express there emotions with more than the lyrics just listening to the music within the CD takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions.
Away From Here seems to incorporate some heavy riffs with like those of Thrice, but with the sincerity of the lyrics being more like Dashboard Confessional. Heavy hard breakdowns are often followed by a slow lull to sooth then out of no where comes a quirky riff that brings you right back up into your seat. Away From Here could be and has been compared to such artists as Matchbook Romance from the label Epitaph as well as Silverstein from Victory Records. Away From Here has a lot to offer both lyrically and musically I'm sure you will agree once you hear them.
Away From Here despite being young has been around for a few years now. Before they were to become Away From Here they were then known as Happy Camper. A poppy quirky band that was short lived and out of there ashes came Away From Here.
Away From Here is a young hungry band like most out there but the main difference between them and Away From Here is that Away From Here has the talent and the ambition to go the distance. In a little over 3 months since there MP3 site has been up they have had 2000 + downloads. The response to Away From Here's music has be phenomenal they are currently being played on college radio in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and the Martimes. This spring there is a Canadian wide tour planned from coast to coast. Victoria to Halifax.
