ASH

Since the release of "1977", ASH gained a new member, Charlotte Hatherley, or Chaz, as she's called, on guitars. The group's new album, their first as a quartet, was "Nu-Clear Sounds", released in 1999. Singles from this album include the rocking "Jesus Says" as well as "A Life Less Ordinary", the theme song to the movie of the same name, starring Ewan McGregor and Cameron Diaz. A turbulent time followed the release of Nu-Clear Sounds, involving an almost bankruptcy and band troubles. After a brief hiatus, the band returned to their roots (ie Tim's parent's garage, where it all began), to work on new material. From this emerged "Free All Angels", an album packed with amazing feel-good rock songs. The first single, "Shining Light", rocketed the band to a 2001 summer with 44 festivals, concluding with the Reading Festival. ASH is awarded single of the year "Burn Baby Burn" by Q magazine. 2002 led the band to their goal world domination, with the North American release of "Free All Angels" and touring with Coldplay and Saves The Day, creating a greater fan base and giving die-hard fans a chance to get up close and personal with this amazing band. What will 2003 hold for ASH? We can only hope that this new year takes them to new heights, and hopefully, their goal of world domination. ASH, we're ready for you.
